They worked on this trailer for 2 moths. ,but still better than trailers from talewords.
Animation from free cam still look weird, from first person view it will be probably a lot better.
Possibility of cutting off some body parts is awesome.
I missed footage from proper fighting in 1st person.
-
Well there are videos of 1st person combat.

But this is really alphabetaish-footage if I'm right.
I wonder how this'll play out. I might even get it.
-
Looks kind of good. A bit arcady but still, looks nice. Probably worth checking out.
-
Haha, the amount of blood is ridiculous
I guess they thought moar blood makes the game better... In a very '2000s style.
-
There is a free mod made by the guys who are making this game, in source for HL2, was pretty fun.
-
Too many tincans.
-
What the is wrong with movement in this? This doesnt look good, mostly due to fully armored knights sliding back and forth. Also why FPS?
-
First I thought that age of chivalry will have typical boring gameplay. But now(after trying the mod and watching video) I am sure that it will have even better melee system then M&B has right now. Dont be biased.
''I can assure you we have played mount and blade and I agree with you that it represents the best quality melee combat currently available in an online experience. But we believe it can be better, and that is why we're making this game.
TeamChivalry''
-
It's going to be a very fun game. Im a big time age of chivalry player and as such, i've been looking forward to this project since it was announced several years back.
-
Ive been waiting for sooooo fuckin long for em to finish their game...
AoC sure was bloody an i think i played it about as much time as i have cRPG
-
Interesting, I enjoyed AoC thoroughly. The combat was not nearly as fun as M&B, but I hope to see a big improvement for a stand alone game.
-
Ye, AoC Combat was crap, animations sucked and everybody moved like they were sliding on the ground or something.
Hope it gets better in the full game.
-
Looks very interesting.
Odd that it's mostly indie ( and console.. ) developers who have their eyes open for melee with multiple attack and block directions.
-
Looks good so far. Hoping for a third person camera though, hate playing melee games in first person.
-
Big money is made with fancy graphics, gore and brutal looking Weapons, not skill based medieval combat. That´s why.
-
Nice game!Medieval wars!MMO?

Yes, accessability for the target audience is definitely a factor.
-
Was looking good, then i saw dodge...
-
Melee looks promising.

Melee looks promising.
Like you care at all......you're probably in it only if they make archery "promising".
-
Age of Chivalry was always an awesome mod, I remember playing it on the first ever public release and it was great and it maintained that greatness the whole way through, it wasn't perfect, but it was a diamond in the rough and did everything it could possibly do within the boundaries of the Source engine. Which is exactly why they moved engine and decided to make an independant game.
Don't be too quick to judge just by a real early piece of footage of an early version, even when this game is released these guys will patch it and improve it for a long time.
-
The real fun in AoC was the voice commands. Holy shit I loved spamming those taunts. "Is that chain mail, or are you wearing a skirt?" Or "You sure have a lot of armor on... overcompensating for something?" Hilarious.

AoC combat was great imo.
Company turned it into shit while trying to fix serious cheats (combo skiping/molding) but funny thing is that they couldn't fix them.
They could not handle the game engine they created at all. AoC could be a jewel but instead it became bullshit.
Tortage city was awesome btw any gamer should see it if its still there :D
GO LAD!
-
sorry but looks like the same bad boring gameplay as Age of chiv, only much better graphics.
I'd rather play pvkii.

Instantly forgiven.
-
Also why FPS?
Third person is for scrubs and noobs anyway, and the first game was in First Person.
-
Unlike Paul, I don't think melee looks too promising.
-
They are very confident in their melee combat system.

Re: "Weapon Block": how it works ?

The parrying system involves directional blocking yes, you move your weapon in real time to parry your opponents and this is what we absolutely love about the system and are confident you guys will love it too; there isn't just 4 static directions, there's every possible direction, and we feel this works fantastically with the fast pace of the game. Stay tuned for the Combat Developer Blog Part 2 to see more of this in action.
Promising..

Win.

Interesting concept, although to be honest I don't find the trailer to be very promising.
The animations look really horrible, instead of fluid movement there is some weird stutter/general feeling of something not being right.

Same could be said of Warband. Our animations are broken beyond belief.
I agree, as it is now it looks a bit weird. It's still in alpha testing though.
-
Think of all the possibilities of mods man!
Persistant World would be amazing
-

No. You can say many bad things about Warband, but the animations look smooth and nothing like the ones shown in the AoC trailer.

Oh.
Not looks. I meant mechanics, how animations can be abused. Et cetera.
I totally agree with the stuttery-looking anims, but it's still alpha. Can be fixed.
For the curious: No, I'm not a basher of this game or fan/anything. It may look like that to you, but I'm not.
-
This looks interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for this game.

Agreed. Just look at the trailer: they focus mainly on killing blows and all the combat seems very... yeah, stuttery. Just looks very unattractive and not too promising.
-
I hope you will view TPP, and that the computer I did not get out on the graphics.

if you watch the video tho its in fact only really 1 direction. same as old aoc, but will a little bit of wiggling. there no going to be nearly as much skill as a pvk/m&b 4 directional system.
I will give it a try, maybe i'm wrong. but y'all gona be disapointed if you believe this quote. it looks shite to me.
-
Atleast there making more games like MB theres so few of them out there

Watch the melee documentary video. I doubt that's only one direction.
I swear cRPG has eaten some people's brains or something. Nothing personal, just seeing some responses about it and it's like that.
