Someone tells me how to mod the game so I don't have to be subject to the in-game text. I would like to kill and be killed without listening to the ninnies.
-
What's wrong with the in game chat?
What is it that specifically bothers you?, maybe you could ask the player to refrain from offending you and then you could both be happy.
-
No, that would be like throwing blood in pirahna infested waters. Mute is the key.
-
there was some script to make it the text smaller.. cba to dig it up but someone might.
-
I phased it out a long time ago
-
I'm not doing this for you.
I googled it and there is a particular line in a .txt folder that you alter to change the size of the text. I imagine you can make it impossible-to-read small. The default setting is 100 and I am happy with roughly 65.

I need that one! I'll search for it tomorrow hopefuly.

Navigate to your Warband folder.
Go to Data
Open font_data.xml with a tex editor.
Second line look for
font_size="70"
Increase 70 to anything higher to make the font smaller ingame.
80 or 85 was decent to make it readable, higher will make it really small but sadly this also goes for the kill messages and for all other fonts ingame so it will make the menus and stuff look different.
Not sure there is any other way to remove the ingame chat.
Else mute will be your only option :(

I really don't want to start a long discussion about one of the favourite topics of the community, so I want to hear just YOUR opinion, to understad what makes you want to remove the chat, as I am really curious:
Don't you want to know if your team perhaps decides to camp a hill? Or that you have got some archers/ninjas/cavalry in the back of your team?
I know there are many retards out there, and not every suggestion is good, but in my eyes everyone following a bad plan is still better than everyone following his own plan. Never mind how good you are, sticking to your team will always increase your chances to survive, thus increasing the number of players you have time to kill, and finally increasing fun. To me there is no fun in running into the enemy force immediately after spawning and then spending minutes in spectator screen.
So what makes you decide to complete abandon any communication with your team that might (sometimes, when you catch a good team) improve your game experience?

Should be a cooldown on voice comm messages per person, so you don't get people spamming one button over and over. I like some of the messages because of the cheesy voice work but some take it a bit too far so my screen is full of text and my ears bleed
-
Wasn't there a "Don't press Q and you don't hear voice commands"?

Lovely barrens chat

While NA servers have their moments (LLJK, crazy Chaos dudes) they are nothing compared to EU1 when all three stooges are online at the same time (beer, Berenger and CID). And if some random berenger wannabe join them situation gets out of control pretty quickly. Thank god that never happens at night when both Bashis and Kapikulus are online...

QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ
No one need chat, screaming enemy at the rear or what ever is a million times more effective. That whole q thing is the unsung revolution this game need. *slow clap* for the q thingy.

It would be great if there was a single key that could hide chat, but hitting it again would return it. :D

This took me back to 5 years ago...
Reading ppl spamming each other was fun while questing.

Thanks for the info, meow. Mute would be fine if I didn't have to scrawl through 80 names during certain times.
Joker, I realize I'm not a one man army but my actions for a particular round are usually dictated by what I see the majority of my team doing in response to, or ignorance of, the enemy team; not someone telling me to "go right". No matter what I do for a particular match it will have no consequence on the outcome if the team as a whole hasn't coordinated effectively. Verbal cues may be good for starting an initial formation but it's not going to have any effect when it comes to cohesion of a mixed team once the battle has started and I'm not voice chatting with the entire team. I don't want to listen to inane conversations for half the time I'm playing when people only really need to learn to mash "Q" "I" "I" "I" for backstabs.
