I was on EU/Siege Server a few minutes ago and an admin began to ban spectators. He said they are using exploits. I am sure that some guys were simple afk... so e.g. one player said the round before he wants to get a cup of coffee.
I am not being banned, cause I played regularly, but I want to know whether it is now forbidden to be a spectator.
Errm... if I answer a phonecall, go to restroom or whatever I am also sometimes spectator. Afaik being a spectator is a normal function of the program.
-
There is a exploit involving spectators in siege(autobalanced to attacker side). For the moment the best way to avoid betting banned while being afk on a siege server, is to log out :)
-
This sucks. I cannot always play continuously (real life calls me) so my PC would stay as a spectator for some minutes.
-
now it will stay either in the serverlist or in the serverlist with a "You have been banned from the server!" window in front of it
-
It's only on siege servers; you hang about as a spec until one team is about to win and then you join it, getting a free +1 multiplier for doing nothing.
-
Not really, you have to actually spawn in the round in order to get benefits. At least this is what i am seeing.
-
Related to Siege exploiting,
Is ladder over gate bannable?
-
Why on earth that would be bannable? It's just clever thinking, not glitching.

Im curious about this as-well
-
It is not clever thinking. Ladder over gate is inadvisable, until it is fixed.
And yes, going into spectators on siege mode, especially at the end of a round can net you a ban, don't do that. If you really must, say that you will.

I have no knowledge on this topic, but my perspective on this: Seems like this whole topic is bogus. So a couple of cRPG players every hour gain an extra multiplier... is it really worth moderating that? Really? It sounds like a game of Tiddlywinks....
It's not even that... They aren't even committing an act while in spectator... That's like arresting someone for DWI when they're still sipping their 2nd beer in their own living room. But rules will always be rules I guess... God save the Queen.
I don't see the punishment fitting the crime, or there even being a crime at all for that matter.

Mak33, you don't know what you are talking about here.
People are exploiting a bug in autobalance to constantly be on the attacking team and thus make sieges highly unbalanced and broken. A ban is perfectly appropriate.

I re-read your OP and your secondary post... I'm understanding better now. At first I thought bans were taking place to anyone in spectator mode on seige servers.
-
do you keep multiplier if you join spectator? and than you join another team?
however the first thing done about siege should be - REMOVE that fucked up huge desert castle with front door. its on map rotation literaly for ages although everyone knows its fucked up. or is it so extremely difficult to remove a map from server rotation?

Yes
-
I ban spectators because otherwise I end up getting anxiety issues regarding being watched.
Sorry, but I'm not going to stop.
-
Yes
than its obvious why some people join spectators on siege - i suppose this happens on that shitty desert castle map that is (almost) undefendable.

Rejoice, not anymore! (Atleast on eu5/6, thanks to a slight rework by Mylet)
