Title: Ultimate Flamberge user build.
Post by: Dravic on February 15, 2011, 09:47:36 pm
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 33
Agility: 9
Hit points: 68
Converted: 14
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 11
Shield: 0
Athletics: 3
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 3
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 132
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1

I would use Flamberge. And hm... maybe some maul/hammer for amazing crush through on shielders? I want to scary people, even tho i will surely die fast, i want simply kill as much people i can in few hits. As a main weapon I want ONLY Flamberge. Is it a good build if i have medium manual block?

Discuss and give me tips.

I would recommend going pure IF and PS. You don't need weapon master or athletics..

I do need some WPF, believe me, wpfs are decreasing width of dmg. SO instead lets say 20-70, i would have 40-75.

IMHO melee without athletics is not good. Any decent player will just dance around you, and as soon as he is close a few swings of a AGI 18 char with 150 wpf will be the end of you.

For some reason this build screams tk...

Do you really need that much PS to kill someone in one hit with a flam? I can kill a lot of people in one hit with just 9 PS and a 1h weapon..

I run around with 0 athletics and do fine. I also have 0 wpm, and I have 89 2h and 75 throwing.

If by "scare people" you mean "make people fall over laughing when they see my slow-as-shit build that dies to a peasant" then yes, that's an excellent build.

For a real Flamberge build, go balanced.

This build screams "spammed by a steel pick" or "spammed by a katana", imo.

I'd say get some more agility, flamberge's speed needs to be boosted by agi/weaponmaster and you need the athletics to move around.

Ultimate and Flamberge shouldn't be used in the same sentence together so your build failed already.

Go with a more balanced str/agi, pure str build for flamberge is pointless. Or just go with a crushthrough weapon and use overheads.

I did something similar with a Barmace character.  The damage is nice but it's too slow.

Do you really need that much strength? I haven't checked, but with a high damage weapon like the flamberge, isn't there a point (PS 8/9 surely?) where you'll kill anybody with one hit? If so, and if you've gone beyond it, then you're just wasting attribute & skill points; you're making yourself slower for no good reason.

I have personally played with a 9 agi build and with a faster weapon than the flamberge (nodachi). It was still too slow. Go for 12 agi at least, maybe 15. Also 0 IF on a str build is bad, you will get hit because you're so slow, str characters need hp and good armor to do well.

Xant he doesn't want a balanced character, but a str one. Balanced is a different category, as would an agi stacker be.

For medium manual block skills? Maybe. That really depends, the more strength and less Athletics you have, the more manual block matters. In a strength only build chambers begin to matter a lot. You should be fine with that build with some more blocking practice.

If your manual block is not Reliable enough to at least last you 15 seconds vs 1 guy spamming, I recommend a higher agility build as they say. You get more openings and footwork combined with flamberge's extremely ...flamboyant... range. Range + footwork & speed makes it ridiculous.

p.s. Don't convert that many points. 10 ps + 6 more IF > 11 PS. Every time. 14 converted is WAY too many unless you are an extreme gimmick build joke.
