I know you don't lose gold no matter what, and I don't care about my troops, just my equipment. Would I keep any equipment if I retreat from a battle?
-
Somebodies gotta know? I was under the impression that when you retreat you get teleported on the map, you give the enemy like 75% of your troops, you keep all your money, but what I don't know is the equipment, what, if any would I keep?
-
first you should know how loot is calculated. The winner of the battle takes loot from the loser.
Now, the question is how much. The objective of the attacker is to win as fast as possible. Therefore, winning the battle instantly would net the attacker 100% of the enemy equipment, minus some random component. Winning the battle in the last minute would give you 0% loot (although i think it's now a minimum of 25%)
The defender's objective is to delay the battle as long as possible. Therefore, if the attackers fight until the timer has run out, the defenders would get 100% of the equipment the attack was carrying.
Admittedly, retreating as defender doesn't make a lot of sense. It's more like an option to say "i dont care any more". Every minute lets you keep a few pieces of equipment more. So just hang in there.
As an attacker, it's way more interesting. If you will probably lose the fight, it's better to retreat sooner than later. However, if you think there's a small chance you could win it, you could play it risky.
The reason for that system was that attackers often just camp the spawn while defenders are more like "meh, i'll attack then". This is supposed to make attackers attack and defenders defend.

Excellent, thanks for the information :)
-
well thought out
thnx for the info, hope it works like intended
-
And what about troops loses when retreating?
-
Sorry for the necro, but do Attackers and Defenders both get teleported if one retreats? And in both situations, does the lost gear go to the other side? Or is just 'lost."
-
If you retreat I believe you are teleported, the person who win's wouldn't be teleported. And the winner still receives a % of the losers equipment based on how quickly you won.
-
Okay, so doesn't matter who retreats, attacker or defender, either one would be teleported. And the opposing side gets the % of gear/troops.
Have a situation where a member of a gens fratrem attacked and we're trying to figure the best, easiest way out of it.
-
If you retreat, you get teleported, if the enemy you're facing retreats, you don't get teleported (only they do).

Okay, so if the defenders end the fight by capping all of the attackers flag how much equip would defenders get? Would it be less than 100% since the timer did not run out?
-
We had to retreat from one of our battles due to time restraints. We only lost about 50% of our remaining gear, no gold was lost, no troops were lost, and we were not teleported. Then again we were attacking Slezkh Castle and it was NPC population, I am unsure if the city received any of our gear or not, but we didnt lose the remaining troops that were still alive.
Hope that shines some light into this convo since I've done it before.
