Title: Siege Map: Holmet Castle

Ok, here is a first version of my second map. I'd be grateful if someone could host it, so I can check out the balance.

The flag is inside of the viking keep. Once the attackers have stormed the walls, there are many ways into the keep. Or they can just break the main gates and the keep's main doors.

I added it to the eu5 and eu6 rotation. No comment on balance yet, it has not been played with large teams and people need to get to know the map first.

But that siege engine have its side towards the castle most of its way, means people can hide behind it and be out of line of ranged most of its way, which means its very hard to stop it without charging out of the castle, which kinda defeat the purpose of castle-maps.
People are already complaining about it being hard to defend because of that. Is it possible to make that siege engine go stright towards the castle as on normal castle maps?

Sure is. If it is indeed too hard to defend, I could also make the siege tower open to the lower walls only.

It is hard to defend, nearly as hard as the old "backdoor at spawn"-sarranid castle.

I suggest either moving attacker spawn back and replacing the towers, so the front gate can be protected by range, or replacing the wooden gate with a real gate. Currently it is simply 1min of door hacking, CHARGE, another 1min of door hacking. Win. (we had a good ammount of players right now)
Having a real gate would give attackers 2 options: Seize the walls and break the backdoors to the keep, or try to seize the gate handle (I would place it somewhere where It cant be reached in 10sec, or protected by a door itself somewhere) and rush the main doors of the keep.

I've put up a new version with straight siege tower route and changed gate area (defenders can now shoot doorhackers). If this is still not enough, I'm going to add a second set of doors at the gate. And as already mentioned, I could make the siege tower open to lower walls as well.

Hehe, you are quick. I've modified it further. Moved the spawns back, added another set of main gates (double gates now with the possibility for ranged to defend both sets), made the siege tower open to lower walls.

One thing I could still do is move the flag up in the keep to the highest floor, not sure if it would change the balance much, though.

The version right now on the server (v2?) feels good, we just had a 2:3 score there with a full server, yet as soon as both doors were down, they can just stream you down. Lets hope Mylet is not scared breaking the server again, and puts v3 to test up soon

Hmm, it's strange actually, yesterday it seemed completely imbalanced with attackers winning 3:0 all the time, yet today it was different. Maybe ppl have to learn the map first or something. I also think that due to the small size, defenders have to be very attentive. It's easy for attackers to mass up at one side and do a surprise attack wipe.

Anyway, v3 is ready.

I've generally noticed that the more full the server, the better chance defenders have, regardless of map.  Just something to take note of.

I hope now it's more balanced, cause the attackers win neraly every round on that map.

Just a heads up but at the first of the main gate set, if you're standing close to the wall and the gate gets opened you can get pushed through the wall into a little chubby hole that you can't get out of.
