Title: How to Push cRPG on your Friends
Post by: Kalam on November 25, 2011, 08:04:13 pm
Or "...how to convince them that the combat gameplay is not an 'easier' version of Skyrim".

Someone throw over some serious ideas, because I've been trying to get my buds to play cRPG for awhile- I know it's the sort of thing they would like if they warmed up to it and knew all the basics, but getting them to take that leap in the first place seems tricky.

Tell me of your experiences with convincing friends to play cRPG, and any suggestions you may have to convert them into chadzianity.

Just talk about it every goddamn time you meet your friends and tell how epic cRPG is. That is basically what Everkistus did and I think all his friends play this mod :D (me included). Only person I have brought to cRPG is my brother. I bought the game for him last Christmas. He quit playing after the upkeep patch came :D. He just had grinded money for his first good weapon and he got frustrated when he couldn't use it anymore. True story about a bro.

Hehe, I've shown a few friends screenshots and how the blocking works, but seeing as how all my friends are poor and don't have their own computer they haven't converted :\. So yeah, just show them how it really is, and definitely show them good teamwork :D

Hmm.. I managed to get 2 of my friends into the game, but I'm not too good at propaganda.

I instantly told them about the flaws, and annoyances.
Not the good things, those were secondary, if they can handle the first. lol

You should hire this guy to do your propaganda work. I heard he's quite a smooth talker.

I talked almost all of my friends into playing cRPG. About 50% of them still play, half have quitted.

There's a reason why I'm called the Fallen Brigade recruiter ;)

I wouldn't do that to the friend of mine.

Why should he play semi-crappy mod for a indie game like Warband?

Sure, combat is good but there is too many negative sides in playing c-rpg.

I gifted Warband to a friend so he can play with me(Was on sale for 3 euros or something), because I know he would like to play it know and then if he was ok at it(He thought native was cool only thing he didnt like was that he died so often cause he didnt know the combat system well).

but Apparently he cant play cRPG nor Warband because it gives him the missing map message each time he wants to join.

But since he will get a new PC soon(And adter he got it we will make a big LAN for 1 week), he will hopefully be able to play it and I will show him how to block etc. so he might want to play it more often after that.

Best thing to get them here and stay is just giving the game to them as a present or something, then give them a masterclass how not to be shit. Otherwise there is a 90% chance that they will be scared away because the game is fucking hard.
