Title: archer sidearms
Post by: erlk0nig on November 21, 2011, 02:14:51 am
Post your favorite side arms if you play an archer! I personally never go into battle without my trusty nordic short sword.

pickaxe.

Geoff_the_clever hasn't lost a duel yet with this hard hitting multi-tool.

It seems to work more effectively than those shite spiked clubs and has a good model and fair reach.

Mace!

In fact I get more kills with the mace than my main weapon.  :D

Maybe I'm doing this wrong.

My latest favorite is the War Spear  :D

For conventional archer build the Iberian Mace

Cudgel.

Cudgel kills are most satisfying.

My 3+ Mace is doing a great job.

This is the most effective 1-slot melee weapon for 0-ps and 1-wpf users.

Boar spear or Spear. You can support EXCELLENTLY with it, and with a little poleskill you will own.Just invest 50 wpf in it,  thats 2 morw wpf in archery.

Flamberge. I was always surprised to see an archer pull one out of his ass.

Archers tend to have alot of free space back their i would n ´t be surprised if a flamberge would fit

The Cudgel is actually a good weapon if you use it 2-handed. With enough PS you can kill most enemys with it even without wpf. And there's no upkeep at all.

No, they usually stick their second quiver up their ass...  :D

^^^

I'd say at least 3/4ths of archers use this.

I would say so too. Its a very handy weapon. Good blunt damage with knockdown. Only problem is its reach since its pretty short buts its very good as a 1 slot weapon.

If you want to be a hipster or dislike the mace use a military sickle or something along those lines.

Well this kinda depends on the builds, personal taste, etc.

If you check the forum part of the Archer Guides you have a couple of great suggestions regarding this issue.

Personally since I use an hybrid build with a 2 slot bow:

> If I'm using 2 quivers:

 . Hammer: 0 slots, blunt damage, knockdown (like, the most important thing, mmk?);
. Pickaxe: 0 slots, pierce damage. (a bit more lengthier than the hammer, but even so still small as hell)

> If I'm with 1h wpf and 1 quiver:

. Military Pick: 1 slots, pierce damage and blunt damage on secondary mode, 98 speed, 70 length, medium price.
. Iberian Mace: 1 slots, blunt damage, knockdown (!!), 97 speed, 71 length, medium price.
. Military Hammer: 1 slots, blunt damage, knockdown (!!), 94 speed, 80 length, medium price.
. Warhammer: 1 slots, blunt swing damage, pierce stab damage, secondary mode with pierce swing damage, knockdown (!!), 97 speed, 65 length, high end price.

> If I'm using 2h wpf and 1 quiver:

 . Mace: 1 slots, blunt damage, 98 speed, 70 length, knockdown (!!), low/medium price.
(don't see any reason to use other weapon as a 2h wpf user.)

Dunno if I forgot something, cheers.

PS: Forgot to mention that pure archery is gay, so sorry!

Pickaxe: 0 slots, pierce damage. (a bit more lengthier than the hammer, but even so still small as hell) does the 2nd mode for it give u knock down? cuz other 2nd modes do

I switched from hammer to hand axe >>>
more damage, better reach, faster, bonus against shield.

The only sidearm i've used on battle is TeamSpeak or whatever is on the ground when i'm the last one (and most of the time it's something weird like a heavy lance..).

MILITARY HAMMER :!: :!: :!:
It's really the best 1h-sidearm for ranged. The funny thing is that I get like 75% of my kills of my xbower with this weapon. It's more like the xbow with 160 wfp is the sidearm, not the military hammer.  Works well with 5 ps. :)
