Title: Shielder superspeed build
Post by: SirProto on November 16, 2011, 10:51:39 pm
Right so I was thinking of making this build for a hit and run kind of shielder

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

    Strength: 12
    Agility: 27
    Hit points: 47

    Skills to attributes: 8

    Ironflesh: 0
    Power Strike: 4
    Shield: 5
    Athletics: 5
    Riding: 0
    Horse Archery: 0
    Power Draw: 0
    Power Throw: 0
    Weapon Master: 9

    One Handed: 180
    Two Handed: 1
    Polearm: 1
    Archery: 1
    Crossbow: 1
    Throwing: 1

any advice for me? I'd be using a round steel buckler to keep the shield weight down for faster movement, and an Espada Eslavona and my sword.

One advice:

If you're building a super speed shielder, you might wanna consider actually increasing your speed past that of the average tin can.

GET 9 ATHLETICS IF YOU GET 27 AGILITY

Hahah I just saw that fault in the build lol

I switched it up a little and for 3 less AGI I can get much better skills, should I use this instead?

Much better, but personally I would drop the 3 if. Your defense is speed not hp/armour. Better to get 2 more shield. For the last point, maybe 1 PT and get 50 wpf in throwing? Nice for throwing daggers/rocks/darts to stop archers and others running away.

Also in the character planner there is an option called Listing style. Choose minimal from it to take away all the unnecessary information.

Matey did a similar build and it was devastating since he had the speed to choose his targets.

Sounds like an annoying build :).

If you aren't a hybrid, 8 WM is a HUGE, HUGE waste. With a build like this where you should be using lighter armor anyway, you only need 2 WM. Max out your athletics, put the rest in shield and get a warhammer or a pick. Problem solved.

Well, 8 WM makes his allready fast weapons even faster and adds damage too. Since he has 4 PS, he can use all the damage he can get.

I'd say use a fast, short weapon with high damage output. The warhammer is too heavy, but a grosses messer, italian falchion or some of the picks would do nicely. Personally I'd take a pick of some sort to be able to rip through armour.

This build crys for the use of a winged mace.
If you are so fast you can hit often => lots of knock downs.
+ 30 blunt if you get a mighty one.
+ winged mace is fast and incredibly hard to block

Only viable alternative would be military sickle.
You would trade damage and knockdown for more range and even more speed then.
If you take a sword i would choose elite scimitar (but its lame *g*)
With that speed you can probably outspam a lot of people with it.
In addition its long enough to get in hit and get out without letting your opponent a chance
to counter.

Shield should be Elite Cavalry or Knightly Heater.
Add very low weight armor and you got a very very very annoying build.

How low weight are we talking here? Llamellar Vest weight or Sarranid Leather armour weight?

Sarranid Leather. Although you can take some slightly heavier ones and try them, maybe the slowdown doesn't bother you that much. Try for yourself.

I also agree totally with Camaris. The winged mace would be AWESOME with this build. It's already cool enough, but with this one it can be a beast!

Alright cool, I'll try the winged mace out in a sec! I might switch up between that and an Italian Falchion.

I'm not too sure about the shield at the moment, my round steel buckler withstands a good amount of hits but it leaves me fairly open to archers, but an elite cav shield is slightly heavier and might tend to break easier but would save me from arrows more often...  :|

Hmmm, with the buckler you should dodge arrows, not block them. Maybe take the buckler when you got lighter armour and the knightly heather when you got heavier? Also, remember that you can move your shield up/down, works for me (most of the time) to stop arrows when I use a buckler. Surprises archers who aim for my feet/head all the time :D (I also do this with normal shields, but it's more important with the buckler)

Ahhh thanks for the tip! I've just been heading straight at them LOL.  I think I'll stick with the buckler for now then.
