In native some polearms have a 2H mode i think we should resurrect this.
With some changes I dont want giant fantasy axes but weapons like shortened spear, maybe one of the long axes and possibly the spiked club.
If a str req was put in place for these 2H modes that was substantially higher variety could be improved without balance being greatly affected. Im not suggesting these weapons be any good as two handers so dont rage at me about game imbalance. These weapons will be long yes but they will also be unbalanced slow and probably only have three attack directions.

Long great axe used as twohander in native is ridiculous. Hard to see what kind of benefits would there be for using for example a spear with 2hander grip. Polearms are used with wide grip for a reason.
-
Polearm length + 2h mode? No thanks.

I want to use Throwing Stones with 2H Mode. :D

Which makes you wonder why things like the long axe are polearms to begin with. I see nothing in their use that's any different than a two-hander. You just grip the hilt and swing it the same as the two-handed axes.
(In fact, there aren't any particularly good two-handed axes, which upsets me.)
-
Not with the added reach they will gain from a 2 handed vs polearm grip. Hold your hands shoulder width apart. The distance between them is the added range you would receive from a 2 handed grip.
-
the weapons do not have to be held at the end. some polearms are short anyway.

eh?
elegant poleaxe for polearms
Great Axe for 2handers
I would like an elegant great axe with a thrust.

If they are not held at the end and there is a damage/speed penalty, why would anyone use them?
-
so that there is a wider variety of 2 handers, they will still have good reach and utilize the excellent 2H annimation
-
If they will have good reach they will be OP. If they'll have the same stab damage they will be OP. If they won't have any of these, noone will use them. See my point?
