Discuss. Also, where does it stop being "acceptable"? How much do your in-game friendships hold for? DISSSSSSCUUUUUUUUUSSSSSS!!!
-
Isn't metagaming using real life things to get an advantage in a game? Or something along that lines?
-
If by real life things, you mean simple analysis? Min/Maxing, stat calculators etc... but it can involve people as well. If befriending certain people gets you an edge in game, that's part of the meta-game(Diplomacy? Is it really "meta-game" in crpg, where such is intended?)

Personally I think of diplomacy and sticking with your friends as part of the game, not meta-thinking.

I am not quite how sure you define meta-game?
I most online games the meta-game is what goes on before the game start.
Ie. in EVE which ships are popular with what fits, they generate a certain response hence there is a meta-game of equipping ships.
In League of Legends it's what champions are most popular and what champions are best at countering those that are most popular.
The closest thing I can come to a meta-game in strat is which classes are most dominating.
-
Sorry I didn't make it clear I was more referring to Strat, but I do want people's perceptions of what the meta-game is to come out, I'm just interested in the way we see the game, the community, and our boundaries too. But say what you like.
