This idea has been through the mill a half dozen times.
The idea is simple. 50% of XP earned and 25% of gold earned by an Alt is give to your main. Its not however taken from the alt, as in a mystical 50% just appears in your main, and so on and so forth.
After long, boring, deliberation I have come to believe that this would be the best and simplest way to make alt's more of a joy to play. Other than their intrinsic fun value.
There is a second poll added to this one, a sub-poll.
Should an alt XP+Gold Bonus be added retroactively.
Cheers

might wanna explain what the hell you're talking about

Is that better?

I think a unique XP and gold pool would be better.
Your system gives advantages to the people that play alts more than mains. That's not what we want either. What about a shared pool of XP and gold. Level ups, instead of being automatic, should require the player to "buy" his level with the experience from the pool.

Just imagine this pretty hordes of 1gen 25 level black armor tincan horsemans on plated chargers
-
The advantage to just send a % off to the main is that it is a hell of a lot easier than a unified pool of XP/Gold.
I would love a single pool because it would give my main a shit load of money, but, what about STF? What happens to that?
Do we then have to spend our xp to test builds? or is STF outside of the pool?
-
hmm its rather interesting concept.it would actually make me want to make alts(maybe).i always hate wasting time on my stf test builds it always felt like a waste of gold/xp
the pool system sounds better then i would not have any wasted time
-
Another point that is rarely brought up is that this system would help established players and noobs alike avoid the grind. no 18 lvls peasantry. you can play on an stf and buff your main. It all counts for something.
A pool doesn't take the grind away. It just spreads it out and it would mean stf would have to go.

What about skipthefun alts?

Just NO, no retroactive benefit from playing alts directly from the main. Espu said it, it's not what the devs want. Adding more and more topics about that won't change anything, since there's also some players who agree that it's stupid. And exploitable.

Alternative suggestion : Give alts xp and gold for kills.

copied for another thread:
When retiring an alt, allow it to inherit all its belonging to any of your characters
This means very long cycles of equipment/money transfers and a real investment in the alt. Since you spent time in the game and money is the same as spending time, there is no balancing issue - someone played in pesant gear in order to make money, it does not matter with which character. For the other players it does not matter if I play my main or my alts, they do not see any real difference.
No XP transfer. That is silly and against the very word "experience", as you main did not experience anything.

+1
Or maybe just let them access to the market. That way you can transfer heirloomed items to your main or another alt.
You can even see Main and alt as a party, so why not sharing equipment ?
To give an heirloomed item is a way to give xp, but it will force you to fully play your alt until his end.

They should do a money bank for all your caracters and same for equipments instead of a bank by caracter
