Title: Reverse okiN's oppressive decision and pass a_bear_irl's Name Change!

This was what a_bear_irl wanted his name to be, and it was approved, but later reversed! okiN is responsible for this oppressive act!

okiN claims that he approved it on accident, and had to reverse it but never stated a reason why. I don't see why this name had to be reversed! It is a clear demonstration of Bear's individuality and hardly offensive as the individual in question (me) is not offended by it!

IT applies with every char afaik :P if your alt is called jerry you cant change name to bob. He could always grind and retire then do it :D

Okey if the full name change can be done only when retiring then this is done right IMO. But if you can change alts name without the need of retirement then this is wrong IMO.

"a_bear_irl" is a better name.  It makes me chuckle every time I see it.  Every.  Time.

You see, I picture other people seeing his name, and saying "oh, he's named like he's a bear, heh."  But then I imagine a_bear_irl sitting at his computer...a real grizzly bear.  Somehow he's managed to get his big bear paws and claws to manipulate the human-sized keyboard and mouse.  A big, brown beast, sitting in a computer chair, with a headset on, hacking away at the contols.  He's not just playing crpg, but he is frustratingly trying to express to us: guys, I'm really a bear.  I've been trying to tell you all this time!  I bet you've never played with a real bear before!

This image comes to mind every time I see his name, and I smile. "No, sir," I say to myself, "I have not played with a real bear before...not until now..."  :)

Somehow the new name doens't have the same ring.

okiN has acted correctly, I also request, nay demand that Tears_of_Destiny have his named changed to something more appropriate.

Nope. I said it if I were to change my name away from "Guard_BD_Tenne" I would still need to have "Tenne" in the name, therefore by the same logic, Bear would have to have "Bear" in his new name. Name changes allow for tags and miss spelled words, nothing more.

From that pov this case is in favor of okin then. But my point was that since this post exists, many people actually know that the new nick is indeed a_bear_irl, so he still is recognisable. Despite the absence of any clue in the new nickname.

As Kafein has stated, everyone that counts (forum readers  8-) ) are aware of bear's potential name change. The whole "no name changes due to loss of reputation" requirement has been satisfied. LET IT PASS!
