Hi, I have just returned to this mod and was pleased to see how active it is.
Anyway, can someone tell me the best 1 slot shield as the Heavy heater I use to use is now 2 slot and I would not be able to fit with my X bow and bolts.
-
For infantry? Heavy Round Shield or Board Shield. For cavalry? The knightly heater or the Knightly kite shield.
Heater shield is good for both.
-
Depends on your preferences.
If you want a strong shield that can last long? Board shield.
If you want a wide shield that can cover you safely? Heavy round shield.
If you want a fast shield that doesn't slow you down? Elite cavalry shield.
For a mixture of these, you can also take any heater or kite shields.
I use the heavy round shield.
-
yeah, depends on what you're going for.
I personally don't like board or heavy anything shields. Too slow and too heavy.
I go for anything with 90 speed or more. If its loomed, that's a different story though.
The knightly Kite shield is the strongest of the shields with 100 speed (by a small margin). That's why I use it. I also like the normal Kite Shield and the Brown Lion Heater Shield. Those only need 3 shield skill, and are tougher, faster, and cheaper than a lot of higher tier shields.
I've seen people do really well with the plate covered round, heavy round, heavy heater, heavy kite, and board shields though. BTW, why doens't it list slot usage on the shield equipment screen?
-
Brown Lion Heater has lots of hp and a nice size. I've used it for months now and I've no complaints.
-
Without doubt, plate covered round shield. Speed shield is not noticeable. Just try. With 5-6 shield skill points is unbreakable for all weapons without bonus.
I don't know if there was changes prepatch-postpatch on shield speed.
-
Is the heavy round shield 1 slot or 2?

1. All those I listed is 1 slot.

Speed shield is not noticeable.
I notice... :(
Though it could just be in my head, that's happened before.

I'm doing well with the elite cav shield. It can take a good amount of hits, has good speed and it looks good, but experienced archers now that they can shot you in the feet, so you have to be carefull.
But like Infante wrote, the plate covered is perhaps the best shield, if you want to take a lot of hits. It rarely breaks and it's affordable. I just don't use it because of it's weight.
-
In my experience Heavy Round Shield is a good infantry shield with great cover against archery and good for teamwork. However, it breaks very fast against any weapon.
Knightly Heater Shield er very fast and has good armor. It lasts long, but it is not a round shield so you flanks are weak against people dancing around you.
I am currently using elite cav shield and I like it so far a lot. It seems to combine the features of Knightly Heater and Heavy Round shield.

16 gen shielder here.
I've used knightly kite/heater, heavy & regular board, plate covered, heavy round.....heavy round still easily the overall best.
A shield is meant to protect you, which the others all have large flaws in
plate covered too slow...die trying to melee back
kite/heaters coverage too small, get hit by projectiles and melee weapons around the shield
board is too slow and not enough coverage for the weight, poor choice in melee or area denial
-
well whats your build.
i for an instance have 8 shield so i got an steel buckler.
the forcefield that comes with 8 shield protects my entire body im very fast and if i avoid any shield breakers, my shield wont break for the entire round.

i just gave him an extra option :D

red arena shield
-
Plate covered round shield is unbreakable to anything but axes or poleaxes. Shield speed is less noticable the more shield skill you have and its got amazing coverage.
-
I would take plate covered round shield or elite cavalry shield. Shield width is more important than height.

False, unless you have extremely high shield skill..which is the exception to rule
big 2 handed weapons can break it in less than 10 hits
Even spammy 1 handers can break it in 16

red arena shield
yellow's way better.
Also, it's called "practice shield", not "arena shield".
