Bridges need to go on a diet, there are some bridges that are bigger than forests, and almost double in length of the width of the river.

I propose leaving them the same width, but slimming them down.

As it stands now, they take way too long to cross and half of that length can be bypassed by micromanaging to only go around the edges.
Something must be done about bridges, either increase the speed to cross them or make them smaller.
It can take over 10 hours to cross a bridge with just 50 people going the entire length.

agree. with under 200 troops shouldnt be slower than a forest

You leave my fortified Kwynn bridges alone!
-
I f you want to see the forest - have a look at our lands. These few trees that you have does not really count as forest :?
Plus - they are already slimmed down - you do not need to cross the river using entire lenght of the bridge....
-
These bridges are around 2km long which is massive, approaching the length of the Golden Gate bridge or bridges crossing the St. Lawrence river. To cross even major rivers in Europe it's only 100-300 metres for say the Rhine or Danube.

I guess that's the reward for making up some pixel->meters conversion

We will never be happy!

That is my point, and I mentioned it, but that privilege is reserved for people with the time and the patience to micro across a bridge.
chadz, you've done a good job with Strategus 3 so far and it is fine if they are oversized to make it easier for people to use them or whatever, but don't make it so beneficial to sit there and micro around through the shortest path on the bridge. It will just cause complaints when one guy who sits infront of strategus.c-rpg.net all day has such an advantage over more casual traders and players.
Also, the bridges really hurt trade as it is now, using the bridges basically means you have to have < 10 troops or waste a quick march getting across it, either way leaves you tremendously vulnerable to raiders and bandits. It is fine for the bridges to be a bottleneck and a chokepoint, but with the exponential increase in the time it takes to get across the bridge and the lack of waypoints, it just becomes a clusterfuck.

I thought the bridge speed nerf was mostly removed, iirc. Shouldn't slow you down that much.

Shhhhh, don't tell them!

Last night ona forced march with 700 troops it took someone 2.5 hours to cross the bridge, but was able to go 7 times that distance in the following hour and a half. So yeah, there is something wrong with that. At the very least they shoudl be shrunk in size so you dont get bridge speed for half an hour on either side when you are not even on the bridge.
