Title: Dear Admins, please be aware of this
Post by: Literally_Circler on February 05, 2011, 07:41:55 pm
Something I've noticed a lot of recently is people crying wolf in an attempt to get you guys to kick/ban players they dont like.

Just some examples, on Naked Mike day we were on the map where there's the large staircase with the hole in the middle. A player was blocking teammates from making the jump causing them to fall. I was able to make it over and proceeded to kick him off the staircase to let my teammates pass. He immediately started clamoring to an admin that I be banned for the tk. To their credit, the admins did not act on his demands which I appreciate.

On another occasion, a member of my clan had a dispute with a different player. It was getting silly so the guy in my clan advised us all just to ignore the player, take the high road and leave him alone, which we did. That player began to follow my clan mate around in game and saying things in the chat like "stop hitting me XXXXX, leave me alone" "stop bullying me" etc. despite my clan mate doing nothing but ignoring him. It was an obvious attempt to get my clan mate kicked.

It seems like these occurrences are becoming more frequent. As someone who's been kicked for defending myself against a tker in game chat (i didnt physically fight back but apparently talking about it was trolling), i ask that you please try to verify peoples statements before taking action against possibly innocent players. Thanks for reading.

Circler, I was the admin online for both the first and third examples you have in your post.

In the first example I actually banned the person who repeatedly blocked his teammates and then attacked them after warnings and kicks.

In the third example, I kicked you for trolling your teammates in chat and breaking the no douchebaggery rule.  After telling you several times to stop causing trouble, you continued.  In which case I kicked you.

This happens to us on a daily basis, and nothing happens.

Circler does it on an isolated occasion and...boom kicked.

Panderson and other admins are not babysitters paid to watch chat all day.

Warnings and kicks were issued.  Failure to heed warnings led to removal.

If others do the same to the point where it catches our attention while we're playing, we'll take action towards them too.

That said, were playing Mount and Blade, not Sherlock Holmes Private Detective...

Take care

I'm just saying, maybe there should be a wider swath of admins, bring some different perspectives into the area.

I nominate myself. I may be an ass, but at least I'm equally an ass to everyone.

but when i talked about it in game chat i was causing trouble

also you werent around for the first example, but that happens a lot on that specific map

Which is bullshit, there needs to be admins that are willing to objectively look and conflicts, only noting history and reputation as PARTS of the greater argument.

Not ones that just go, "Oh, that Circler guy is in Literally, he must be in the wrong,"

I have a similar story, I had teammate in a siege the map was just 1 second from bieng over and we won, so he just killed me on purpose. (i dont mind that, its end of map, nothing saves and he just wanted to get 1 last kill in)  Next map he is on my team, and he starts hitting me, a enemy comes near me and I know the enemy will try and kill me anyway, so while i was fighting enemy, he tk'ed me in the back, it was 1 time occurance, so I said that he better stop tk'ing me because I can kill you back if enemies arnt around. Then he tk'ed me again, so I made poll to kick him (kick not ban, nothing much) then he started pleading that I started it first and he was just defending himself, so then the people and some guy, gave me a warning and told me to stop, I tried telling them that he started it, but it was no use. He tk'ed me again, and he said to me stop starting it, and i got kicked. (I didnt even do anything to that guy!!) So, you really have to look, at whats happening, before kicking. Especially if the person forgot the name of the low ping siege server. Also, if you give a guy a warning to stop or they will take further actions, doesnt it make sense that they will stop, and not keep going?? I got on the server about a hour later, about 4 people, turns out he was trolling all night long, they made a vote ban and he was banned when the guy wasnt there. So I proved my point.

If you really don't do anything, you won't be kicked. Simple as that. Admins do not ban or kick people, just because some other guy says they do something, admins only act when they see the stuff themselves. Or when they see those 2 dark red lines pop up, shortly after spawning.

Revenge TKing is not only punishable, it makes you the offender, not the victim.

Happens all the time in cRPG. If anyone attacks me I'll just kill em. Usually ends the conflict since they're looking for someone to pick on + track around the map. If admin asks me I will explain in detail with screenshots and/or fraps video

And that won't get you unbanned.
So, if you do feel getting that one TK is worth being banned for a few days for, go ahead.

We're abrasive, but mostly responsive.

Largely we only respond en masse to people calling us out, and when that happens we do absolutely destroy that person.

Thus the self-perpetuating cycle.
Title: Re: Dear Admins, please be aware of this
Post by: Mustang_Sweets on February 07, 2011, 09:10:23 pm
I believe that the admins should still keep doing what they are doing, and that is watching out for the physical actions rather then the chats. Plus if a tker keeps hunting you don't turn to attack him, let him get banned on his own cause if you return fire the admin might have only saw your tk and missed his. Thus making you the defendent and not the accuser, therefore you are now the target not sight helping the them aim.

More admins should be liberal with the mute feature.  Since lorne pointed it out to me, it has become my favorite admin button.

but no, I have no such story. But I killed somebody at the end of the round on a siege-server. I killed him with a headshot... because I was aiming and the game stopped... the arrow got released... and... yeah. my teammate fell, dead. It was scaring the hell out of me. :O
I didnt want that. :'(

Talking about trolling and tk, i guess literally clan's ppl are the best. They tk ppl for any random reason. For example, Literally_Prite tked me intentionally just because he doesnt like my fighting style, i was fight then run, then come back hit again then run. so I guess the literally ppl should just stop trolling because they are the biggest tker in the whole game. and they cover their tk pretty good.

Talking about immaturity while asking for a perma mute without ever actually talking to me and making egregious spelling and grammar errors in doing so.

Talk to me before you go on a crusade, you'll find that I'm perfectly reasonable given you have some semblance of coherence and intelligence, as are most of Literally's members.

You'd have to be some kind of retard to actually believe anyone would give you admin powers after the usual "bloohoohoo admins aren't dispensing finely tuned godlike justice" nonsensical whine. Not original, it's been done, check pretty much any unban thread containing an idiot and a totally misplaced sense of entitlement. So I'm forced to conclude you are a troll and this entire thread is a waste of space.
Oh, just to be clear, that's not irony btw. You don't have to talk with anyone to think they deserve a mute, just observe their behaviour on the server. Gee, I wonder why two separate people would say such horrible things about your clan. Obviously they are liars trying to lower your chances of getting admin powers.

Hey bud, this response screams "I have a false sense of entitlement!"

You obviously don't know what irony is and this is no place for a literary lecture. You obviously don't play with us. You've made your observation and you're sticking to it! Regardless of any evidence to the contrary! Because dammit you have already been set in place! If you would watch Literally play, we mostly just shut up and game, but if we get called out, and we do, we will defend ourselves. You might ask "Why do you get called out in the first place?" It started with ladders, and continued from there. We never bought into the "role-playing" part of this game, and we largely just play to -- get this -- have fun.

Yup, I'm the person with the nagging need for admin powers, and obviously trolling poor sheep like you. Stop just going along with what those put in authority positions by arbitrary means and think for yourself.

This is what I'm talking about, it's always good to have someone that can see things from multiple perspectives.

Yeah, this is the first time I ever see this type of diatribe in the forums. No one has ever whined about admins or used the "I play for FUN lololol" arguments. If "fun" for you consists of building sky ladders and being totally useless for the other 50 people on your team, it's a form of griefing. Sorry, this is a multiplayer team game, not a sandbox. I have however been playing the cRPG from basically the start, and have never had any problems with admins. I also know a bunch of other players in the same situation. If you aren't being disruptive, there's no reason an admin would ever have a problem with you. I guess I and the vast majority of other players just aren't that willing to stick it to The Man (tm) for no other reason than because we aren't allowed to be total douchebags and turn a team based game into our own personal playground.
Incidentally, I don't think anyone friggin roleplays. Playing the game the way it's meant to be played is not roleplaying.
As for my response being self-entitled, could you expand on that?

I made this topic and at no point did I complain about the admins. For the most part I think they're doing a fine job. I just wanted to make sure they were aware of what in my mind, is a growing problem. Stop trying to label me as a "troublemaker sticking it to the man" when in actuality I'm just trying to take preventative measures against what I perceive as an issue.

I roleplay a wizzard with lvl 1 magic missle. I'm highly ineffective. Then I roleplay a xbowman. He's highly ineffective. Rarely I'll be forced into melee with proper weapon. Then he kills loads of people.

Incidentally, it's never been clearly defined what "playing the game it's meant to be played" means. If this were native that would be easier to answer, there's simply less options a player has. But for crpg the player has a whole mess of options. The "best" answer we can get is inferring from the changes chadz makes. chadz nerfed archers/cav, so we can infer the game is not meant to have heavily armoured horse archers. Outside of patches, it's hard to invoke "playing the game it's meant to be played" as an argument. Not saying you can't call things as exploits some times however.

What? Arbitrary? Don't be ridiculous.

I paid for my admin status, and I'm guessing all the other admins did the same. It's only 30 Euro, not like it's an exclusive club or anything. Oh, and you have to send cmpx or ptx a bit of cash otherwise they don't lock the admin abuse threads for you.

The only admin who I know for a fact didn't pay is Alex, and that's because he spammed chadz with weird requests ('add a map that's a replica of Mount Rushmore', 'I want a special triangular wizard hat that only I can wear', 'Can you add a voice command that goes 'zap' so I can press it when I kill someone?', 'We have ladders, but not stepladders, what's with that chadz?', 'can you code rashes and warts? I want my character to be unique with some skin conditions', 'did you get the idea for cRPG from drinking lots of coffee? That's where I get all my ideas', 'can you make my character 35% taller than everyone else's please?', just some examples). He was added as an admin to cut down on the spam.

Anyway, there's a clear selection process. Though NA admins are different - they get paid for it because they're registered as a charity, after having to put up with people like you. Or so I heard. Through the grapevine!

Read my previous post that was addressed to you, mainly the part about you not knowing the situation and making judgments and then blindly following them regardless.

Also, you've never played with us, yet feel as though you have the fullest understanding as to make any sort assertions about us. Is that a false sense of entitlement?

Now read that post again.

Well you must be full of it because I paid exactly 30 euros for barely a month of play and didn't receive any admin status. Though I did get flamed by other admins for bringing forth the suggestion on how to help you act in more mature and consistent manner. Listening to your egos crying was hilarious and pathethic at the same time so I had to lock the thread the very same day.

I still check here from time to time to see if things have improved but didn't think I would post again. But letting bullshit slip away is just not in my nature.

You can literally buy admin rights. Thank you, that's what I was looking for.

Someone fails at joke comprehension.

Someone fails at joke comprehension.

That'd be you.

If "literally" is said, then you know it's probably a joke.

Nope - your appendix "Thank you, that's what I was looking for" made you sound like an indignant baby, not a mirthsome jokester.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it not a very good joke.

they just lock threads like this instead of addressing the issues

Serpus, I don't know who you are in-game, but almost everything you ever write on the forums is wrong and/or abusive towards admins. Did your dad cheat on your mom with a game admin and leave her for his new gay lover? No? Then stop acting like every admin in the world is your enemy.
