I know walt-f4 did a study on run speed (can't find the thread) but I'm wondering if it was ever determined how much weight is required to offset a point of athletics.
For example,
athletics 6 carrying 30 weight
vs
Athletics 5 carrying 20 weight
which is faster?
Is there a way to figure out how much weight will effectively cancel out a point of athletics?

The effects are not linear, so there is not a simple answer. The plots in this thread (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,3278.0.html) can answer this particular question. Athletics 5, agility 15, and 20 weight will run slightly faster than athletics 6, agility 18, and 30 weight assuming you are changing only carried weight (not changing the held weapon, adding multiple shields, etc.)

WaltF4, your graph is excellent. Thank you for reminding me of where that thread is located. It answers all my questions!

It's about time all that research of WaltF4 gets put into one thread and gets a sticky in the beginners guide or something. They are incredibly useful to minmaxers like me.

I'd prefer to see that information on the equipment screen itself. E.g. current effective Athletics based on gear load out, effective WPF based on gear loadout...etc

That would be amazing.
Well WaltF4, I hope you don't mind I bastardized your graph and included lines for 6 and 7 athletics...not based on any actual testing but based on the pixel distance of lines on your current graph. :P
This should help people get a general idea of their effective athletics by plotting their weight and current athletics on the graph, and them comparing it to other points of athletics/weight. Then again, it may be complete misinformation and now you're all dumber for having viewed it.

I can't remember seeing it mentioned anywhere on Walt's page, but from some testing a month or so ago I found that Agi seems to improve the total speed the character is capable of while Ath improves the acceleration. Someone might want to check this, but my 13 shield skill(39Agi) alt with 4 Ath consistently started slower and later out ran a 7 Ath archer over a long distance.
