I played cRPG a long time ago and mainly used a 1h with a shield but occasionally used an xbow. There have been a lot of changes since I quit and I'm planning on respeccing. I'm wanting to just use a 1h/shield and that's it. Here's my old build.
Strength: 15
Agility: 21
Hit points: 56
Converted: 2
Ironflesh: 3
Power Strike: 5
Shield: 7
Athletics: 7
Weapon Master: 7
One Handed: 160
Crossbow: 50
What changes should I make? Thanks for any help!

15 STR/5 PS for a pure ground pounder is not enough, you'll hit like a wet noodle. Not to mention with 50 some HP you'll be 1 shotted by gorilla juice heads unless you wear heavy plate armors
VALKYRIE SHIELD MAIDEN: A Maiden sent from Valhalla to protect her kin with shield and sword
(click to show/hide)
Strength: 21
Agility: 15
Hit points: 70
Skills to attributes: 2
Ironflesh: 7
Power Strike: 7
Shield: 5
Athletics: 5
Weapon Master: 5
One Handed: 148

Go with Digglez' build. 5 PS with a 1h is useless and 160 wpf in 1h is a waste. If you must go 15/21 and want to go 1h/xbow put at least 150 in xbow.
I currently have 7ps, 73wpf in 1h and I have no problems (with decent footwork) keeping up with dedicated 1h builds.
One hand weapons are fast enough that you don't need loads of wpf as a hybrid.
Again though, if you want one hand weapons to be your focus you should use the 21/15 build Digglez provided. It really is the perfect build for new players.

if you really must carry around an xbow, you dont really need more than 50-75 points to be accurate at medium range. Pick off people standing still or coming up ladders/stairs/hills.
this will only drop your 1h down to like 140 which is still good.
just know that the lower your WPF in xbow, the more often you'll have to repair, so it'll be expensive
