Hi, it's me again :D
I've been thinking :!: and came to conclusion how most polearms have some secret features like polestun, crushtrough, bonus against shields, knockdown while 2H swords are boring and weak (yes they are). So an idea came to me and that is to reduce swing damage on all 2H swords by 10 but instead to change the damage type to PIERCE.
What do you think?

while 2H swords are boring and weak
2h swords are my all-time favorite weapons. They don't have some of the same bonuses that polearms have, but they have fantastic animations. Both side swing directions have considerable reach, and rarely bounce. The thrust adds a huge amount of reach, allowing you to attack with minimal exposure to enemy melee. The castor swing lets you quickly dispatch inattentive or inexperience shield users.

Leshma just stop it, you will never reach Michael level of idiocy so stop trying.

Yeah they are my favourite as well but I'm tired of hitting STR monsters 4 times in the face... cut is really weak. And 2H animation isn't that epic, polearms have strange animation and many times catch me off guard, on the other hand I can block swords fine. Also if I'm polestunned things get nasty but if I'm hit by a sword it's not a big deal.
Castor swing I don't use because I'm not a spammer and that in general is spamming techinique used by STR heavy builds. I'm AGI build which likes to use footwork and precise head swings/overheads but I do glance on STR heavy monsters in plate (6 PS) and that annoys me.
I really don't have any trouble killing shielders but I would like more damage for those STR heavy spammers and cut damage simply ain't good enough.
-
Wut? Actually 2h swords are the most powerfull weapon in game.
-
Why don't you use 2H, GLA spammer?

I disagree AS a 2h and I'm sure noone will seriously agree with op.
I'd sure love to have a 33 pierce on swings danish gs, but that would be ridiculously OP.
Personally, I like 2h swords because their animations are crisp, clear and "clean", they deal respectable damage, they have good feints and they are straightforward weapons the strength of which is determined by the finesse and skill of the user, they also make the best display of M&B's forte - a great melee combat system.
-
Well, I have both 2h and polearm wpf. I have both wpf because I want to use both 2h axes and polearm axes. How player can ask buf for 2h swords when he plays with heirloomed heavy armor and greatsword(easiest playstyle right now imo), mystery for me honestly.

Of course I'm aware of that but I wouldn't mind 2H swords being OP thefore I made the thread. Too many shit have been OP, 2H haven't been in a long time so why not? :)

See, just like you know that I have everything loomed, I know that you're STR oriented polestun bundle of sticks who happens to love axes
-
2h swords aren't boring...they are the fastest and among the longest reach weapons. Plus they look the coolest.
If you removed 10 damage but made them pierce, they would do roughly the same amount of damage against medium armored opponents. WHat's the point? WHat's the benefit?

at this point we're convinced you're brain damaged

I'm ahead of the curve on that one. Been convinced for a while now. Still, not nearly Michael levels. There is much room for.."improvement"?

just stop the str madness and then you dont have to hit every bundle of sticks for 12 times until they die.
Actually people looking like peasants can take 3 hits with my heavy bastard and thats totally wrong.
or just join the bandwaggon. thats what i am doing until there will be a change.
Im sick of having to hit so often and being killed with 2 hits. Going to be a str monster too.
Fuck the balance.
thats the problem and not cut-weapons.
and make danish pierce if i am the only one allowed to use it ;)

Too bad that he's too muted to laugh at me for using math and statistics.
-
The only problem with those stats is they don't probably balance the average speed multiplier and also glance increases (easier to glance with cut) with the new screwed up early hitbox detection. On average the strength builds with their 3x loomed armors (70-80 body armor) take half as many hits to kill with pierce in actual practice, not with the theoretical figures posted. The old calculator is way off with all the WSE script changes and cant be relied on for accurate data.

You have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

Well gee Paul, no need to state the obvious.

How is this news?

Wait, so me trying to stab platers is completely useless? So even the stab of a german greatsword is inferior to its swings? Stabbing has no use at all, apart from it having range? Damn, buff pierce!
They don't have some of the same bonuses that polearms have, but they have fantastic animations.
Am I the only one who fights a greatsworder over any top tier polearm anyday? I find the polearm animations ridiculously confusing. I always get killed by double attacks.
When a polearm hits your block, it bounces back in way that almost exactly resembles the animation of chambering a new attack (to avoid confusion, chambering an attack is preparing an attack. Holding LMB is chambering an attack, the other thing is called chamber blocking). Because of that I always fail to spot double attacks or hiltslashes, cause I just assume its just the bounceback. And than suddenly, bam your dead.
They also swing much faster as far as I can tell, maybe the chambering animation takes longer, but the swinging part seems to be a lot faster. I should fraps that shit and compare it on slow mo once, because I will probably get ridiculed now.
