So,I got bored of melee so I respec'd to thrower,I'm using throwing spears and I go for 18/18 build,I've read the throwers guide, but maybe someone has something to add?

use heavy axes against soft targets in mail armor or lower. Use pierce weapons on ppl with better than mail armor. decide what weapons to bring based on the make up of enemy team. If they have few armored tincans or horses, bring 3 stacks of axes/cut weapons and 1 stack of pierce. vice versa etc etc
moving forward grants no bonus and reduces your aim, try standing still to get better aim for some of your throws.
even the act of throwing at an xbow that is bent over reloading is enough to make them move so they wont get hit and interrupts their reload
I'm a hybrid thrower, but like carrying a stack of daggers to throw at fleeing soft targets like archers and agi whores.

Throwing is the only ranged that can be used while jumping. I find that quite useful in group fights from time to time because one can use a jump throw to safely throw over the heads of teammates into the enemy group. The higher angle also often makes up for the slight loss of accuracy because head hits become more likely(against a tight group) and once in a while the projectile sneaks past a shield that is held too low.

There are axes and javelin-like throwing weapons. Try both, they behave in very different ways.
Javelins are fast, armor killers with reasonable angle but you need very precise and thoughtful aiming to hit consistently. You throw "exactly where you throw". If your weapon is a centimeter away from your target, you don't hit.
Axes on the other side, are slow, high damage but bad against tincans, have a terrible angle and thus short effective range. But their main advantage is the way the collision detection works for them. They are huge moving object when thrown, their size makes it very easy to hit people, especially heads. You can nearly use them only relying on gut feeling for drop and movement correction (at decent throwing range ofc.), they will hit "by themselves".

I have a thrower STF alt, and I find throwing axes very very fun. My tip, aim for the head.

downside to this is if you miss, your axes go way far out, unless you have something behind the target like a hill or building close by

Every projectile has a hitbox radius of 1 cm.

A tip I've found with Jarids/Javelins/Spears is that you need to compensate a bit to the right when you throw because your projectile is moving a bit from the top right (where your arm releases) towards the centre of your crosshair. True for axes as well but more noticable with Jav type because you aren't just shooting at close range.
What Diggles said about staying still is really important. There's a bug hard coded with native that unlike melee hits, ranged hits do not gain damage bonus from your own relative movement speed (your target speed does tho) so this is pretty important to know for throwers and horse archers. Once I learned that and stood still to throw instead of trying to get extra damage off running throws I started getting a lot more kills from the extra accuracy.

not really useful info at all for a beginner...or anyone for that matter

eh? you want me to throw it for you to?

This is another reason why throwers need to know how and when to jump and shoot.
-
Ye, another advantage of jump throwing is that you know where your misses went while still having a decent chance for head hits.

tips for throwing? Dont throw, dont waste your skill points to become a real thrower.
be a punk and just get 3 pt and be a shitty thrower
axes are the best throwing weapons out there
-
Yeah you don't need to go all the way and do the dedicated thrower thing. I have 5 PT and 95 WPF and usually run around in light-ish armour and can wreck even a heavy tincan's day popping them with a Jarid. You can even put on medium armour like banded with no penalty to PT if you go very light with gloves/helm. You will still have 125 WPF and 7 powerstrike in your normal weapon.

hahaha Love ya man.
I remeber the big whine was about hybrids, and how the patch was going to fix them and make throwing only viable for pure throwers.
