well. first village defense is over...
my observations...
50k gold for defenders resulted in awful gear. there seemed to be enough variety, but hell... look at the one handers... also, i think we ran out of ALL weps by the end.
http://i.imgur.com/jCKNJ.jpg - to see defender weapons and best armour.
of course, the attacker also suffered from poor gear as gold is scarce and gear expensive.
props to attackers though, they were 22 players vs 68 and killed as many as they lost.
oh also, the awful gear means awful xp.
Before: 22,845,284
After: 22,850,874
30min for 5,500 xp.
lastly... i thought ranged was supposed to be worse now? but im pretty sure most of the top players were archers. if im wrong about that, then someone feel free to correct me.
-
yeah the gear was very lame, it was... how can one say it, a bit to serf like ^^
-
That's how it was before, and I think that's how it is supposed to be

There is no need to be jelouse about my archery skills Matey ;)

What I don't get is how the union managed to get that much gold/troops in such short time? The union actually had better equip than the villagers. They even had heavy armor and horses. All this while others r struggling to get even a bit of gold. Weird

Troops is easy, they also didn't have enough gold to cover all of their troops, it would be interesting to know the exact number of how much they spent.
They spent roughly 3.5k on their standard armor alone, which isn't that hard to imagine if they were active before crafting went into effect and already had much more.

Don't be passive aggressive, at least have some balls and call them out if you are going to.
As for the topic at hand, I agree with Matey the defender gear for villages seemed a bit low. Could you leave it at 50k and then do say separate stack or pot of gold for hiring? I would assume that even though there are no payouts, villages paying what people are asking for eats into the overall amount thus lowering the gear?
-
Keep in mind that with all items 4x more expensive - 50K gold = 12.5K gold in last strategus, which would be low for a village defense. They usually had closer to 15-20K

yeah that needs to be accounted for, so villages should prolly have something between 100k - 200k instead
-
id like to see the old equipment prices back, and make gold a bit easier to come by.

Unfortunately, caravan with WM Arbalest came late a bit: (

You are but millions. Our unnumbered nations
Are as the sands upon the sounding shore.
We are the Scythians! We are the slit-eyed Asians!
Try to wage war with us-you'll try no more!

We love raw flesh, its color and its stench.
We love to taste it in our hungry maws.
Are we to blame then, if your ribs should crunch,
Fragile between our massive, gentle paws?

The armor doesn't seem that bad considering their peasants. I would like to see better 1h weapons though, at least hatchets.
Also, I'm surprised more factions haven't started attacking villages yet. Just me personally, I've been able to amass 80 troops with relative ease, and I think if I had a gold/craft farming partner (or two), I could equip them well enough. Factions, get on your shit!

It looks like armor was prioritized over weapons? For the price of Ragged Outfits they could get Falchions, Spiked Clubs, or maybe Handaxes, which would certainly be more useful than a length 40 hammer. At that length it practically auto-glances.

What have you been smoking? Length doesn't make things glance!
But they really should prioritize weapons a bit more.

Yeah, kinda the opposite.

nice update chadz... now that village have 250 tickets and 100k gold... =\

Dirigh Aban still has 500 tickets and over 150K gold. By any chance are you in Yagarah or whatever that village was that just got attacked? Or are some villages just easier prey than others now?
Edit: Never mind. I just realized what thread I'm in. chadz seems to have added 100K to each village. Though I think it is kind of a "screw you" to the union now that the population is back up to 250
-
popul. increasing by ~120 at day, he increased gold in village to 100k (in others 150), but when we lost battle village had 49 ticked alive. balance? nice. wanna see when will be next village attack
-
soooo now villages have 3x more gold... but players still have fuck all? so we are looking at another like 2 weeks of stock piling gold before we can compete with villages gold quantities? i could see 250 pop and 100,000 gold... that could be interesting. but 500 pop and 150,000 gold? wtf.

suppose you could keep attacking them with poorly equipped suicide waves to run them out of equipment, ya know like the mujahedin...bleed'em dry
-

Yes, it does. Has to do mostly with the hilt I think.

Pretty funny then how archers use the hammer with 1wpf and 0PS and still don't glance.
-
blunt.

blunt.
I know. I've yet to see the hammer glance except for hitting in the beginning of the animation. The comment that "at that length it practically auto-glances" is just silly. It really is a nice backup weapon, but I agree that it shouldn't be the "main" weapon for the AI to buy.

At the rate they seem to repopulate, that might be ineffective. It's best to just make a mass suicide horde. I predict people finally get annoyed as hell with the new gold system and just taking villages with 1500 troops armed with tridents.

"Warband" not "Kingdom"... this Strat is going to be loooong.
-
Yeah I am in agreement with a lot of the previous posters, the changes went from one extreme to the other. If acquiring gold was the same as last strat and the prices hadn't increased it would make more sense. So really it comes down to either increasing the amount of gold we get either via trade or crpg, decreasing the amount of gold for villages, or a combination of them both.
If the Union had 20 more players they probably would have been able to take the village in the gear they used. I think our estimates put them around 20k or so in gear, but I am sure one of those guys could give the correct number. Doing simple math, if it took them 2 weeks to get together 20k to take on 50k village in an even fight, at 150k you are talking 60k gold and another few weeks. That just seems very high just to take a village, castles and cities are different matters entirely though.
Again just my thoughts.
-
i'll say to you secret. we spend ~15k gold on equip. craft is amazing + roster full of strong players

First village busted :)
