These are all opinions, and the USA could not wipe out a European country in minutes without other countries inerfering. It'd be the USA's end.

Actually if you ignore the ramifications of global action response from doing so, America has more than enough nukes to wipe out all of europe in minutes.  Of course, other countries have the same ability.  That's not even getting into biological warfare.  Human governments at this moment are more than capable of clearing the planet of human life a few times over.

The USA  no longer has the resources or credibility to start another pointless war across the ocean.
Although I guess the only jobs left in america now a mility base so I suppose it would help their economy
but this is just speculation.

Thank you gorath for reinforcing the sterotype that americans are loud ignorant bullies on a power trip

I didn't see anything loud nor ignorant about his post. On the contrary; stating that the US (and other countries) couldn't easily wipe out much of Europe would be ignorant. He wasn't saying "let's bomb everyone, that'd be heaps funny!", he was just saying that many countries have great nuclear capability.

Also, creating more jobs in the public sector does not strengthen the economy.

United Kingdom & France have nuclear powaah too. :)
And it would be silly of US to attack their NATO allies 'coz it would demand 27 countries to mutual defense.

We're not cheese-eating surrender monkeys. UK (3.), France (4.), Germany (6.) and Italy (9.) are in the top ten of world's military expenditure list.

Edit: Oh yeah, I love George Carlin. :D

I think you should re-read what I posted.  All I said was that in truth, America AND OTHER COUNTRIES all have the capability to wipe out a sector of the world, or even multiple sectors.  Not only through nuclear weaponry, but biological weaponry.  If you combined the WMD's across the globe from any and ALL governments the human race could probably wipe the planet clean a few times over.

Not sure where you got the idea for your post from......  I guess I'll blame a translator or something until I find out otherwise.

America invented the ARPANET, made computers popular and later made the internet mainstream. Your argument is invalid.
Title: Re: Ask an American Anything
Post by: Ishar on February 04, 2011, 12:10:28 pm
You do know CERN had a working network of computers years before ARPANET, right?

OK, modern internet is largely American accomplishment, but the tech itself is not. Same thing as with the cars: Karl Benz built his automobile in 1885, yet most Americans still credit Henry Ford for his 1914 accomplishment, only because he used the brand new invention to build his cars: the assembly li... oh wait, that was also in use since 1902 by Olds in the Oldsmobile factory.

Americans rarely invent things. They just know damn well how to use them.

You serious?

You must be some kind of fucking retard who gets his impressions of geopolitics from pop culture stereotypes based on stuff that happened more than 50 years ago. Get a brain and a sense of historical perspective you piece of shit. Tired of bundle of stickss like you insulting all the brave French soldiers that fought and killed and died across centuries to defend my country. If you're American, including to create your fucking country since Washington was a worthless fucking general who couldn't have accomplished shit without outside help. But of course you retards have your little moronic myths about everything.

I don't know if I'd put it like Oberyn but I'm fascinated by french history.

The ideals of the Révolution, spread of liberal democracy, secularism and equality. Successful underground war against the chocolate chip cookie occupation by brave folks from all paths of life.
Guts to say no to the Iraq war.

I'd wear a beret proudly anytime. 8-)

I think it's all not about democracy, freedom and liberty. It's about economy, resources, power. Just because the people don't want to hear that, they are told about former. What happens in the world is because of economy, resources, power, nothing more. The whole system is named capitalism. And every possible alternative will be bombed away: socialism, islamism and whatever will come. Not facism, because facism is only a special form of capitalism, only without free competition of the markets and democracy. We have to learn, that all is about economy, capitalism.

The biggest problem with capitalism is that it's a system based upon and rewarding the qualities of greed, self-centered narcissists, immoral competetive drive and exploitation of other men.
The biggest problem with socialism is that in the end it's still managed and governed by human beings succeptable to those same negative qualities above and overall corruption of the system.

Social Democracy = Democratic Socialism
You're combining an economic theory and a political theory in one phrase.

Democracy (Multi-Party, Elected, President-run Government) + Socialism (Government permitted to own companies to stimulate economy)

"The term is sometimes used synonymously with "social democracy", but social democrats need not accept this label, and many self-identified democratic socialists oppose contemporary social democracy because social democracy retains the capitalist mode of production."

France sure proved itself in WW2, hmmm the Germans attacked through the the forest the first time, certainly they would not do it a second time??!  Anyway lets stay behind our line of fortifications and well be fine.

I think a lot of jokes about France are due to France going belly up during WW2, for example

You guys know what I do every morning I wake up? I open my eyes, sit up, and salute the American flag hanging from my ceiling. I then get out of bed, salute the flag again, and start my morning workout. When I'm done, I eat some greasy food, and yell the Star Spangled Banner at the top of my lungs down the hallways of my dorm. Why, you ask, do I do this? Because I love America. She may not be the perfect country, but she's MY COUNTRY DAMMIT, and I love her to death. AMUUUUURICA!!!!!!

I wouldnt say the US is facist, but they do suffer from some of the worst cases of excessive bureaucracy ive ever seen.

However thats only one aspect and not really something to judge a whole with.
