12PS 11IF go nuts.
Great Maul is best used when you have a bunch of people near you, though you can manage on 1VS1 if you really know what you are doing. Even with 0ATHL you should still be able to stick near a clump of friendlies if you watch what you are doing and don't wear super heavy armour. Siege will be stupid powerful with that build.

If you don't want to be left behind too much on Battle, you could tone down to 30/9 to get the extra ATHL if you absolutely want it.

Seriously though, Pike, Great Maul, 36/3.

anything less than 4 athletics is suicide if you want to play wide open battle maps, you will simply never get close enough to hit anyone intelligent (which is why I have throwing in my build), they will pick you apart like mongoose, pirahana, mosquitoes, etc

Less athletics will work fine on siege where you can setup in chokepoints.

haha lol yeah sure and you are slow like turtle

In my opinion 24/15 but 27/12 also can be nice. Speed is important here.

My alt will go for 27/12 but if it's too slow (Using loomed mallet here not great maul) I'll go back to 24/15 since weapon speed affects your blocking animation speed too!

I like my mauler alt it's very tough but more rewarding as I got sick of the clones that there is in this game.

This is the way to go if you wanna be a mauler. Zero athletics is a bummer but in battle servers you can easily stick with some people. Hide behind a shielder and just bonk people. If your having a bad day just go on a siege server and kill everything for a positive pick me up.

Implying that means anything, unless you're stuck in a 1 v 1 situation against someone that runs way from you, you can just bonkfaces your way to victory.

I've never had trouble in battle or siege easily getting a kill every 10 seconds because no one bothers running away from you since it's usually a group fight unless again, you're fighting a 1 on 1 in which case yes you're disadvantaged but that's your own problem, I've rarely had that affect me as anything more than a minor annoyance.

On my alt:

30/12

10 PS
3 Ath
4 WM

Anything with Crushthrough works. 2-hitting most archers with a Cudgel in 2h mode.

This requires some tactical thinking though. I.e. don't chase archers, hide somewhere and wait for unsuspecting victims. Gnjus style.
