Title: Smithing has issues or what?

im 10th gen, i have 2 MW weps a MW shield MW gloves and a double loomed gambeson. I have insane amounts of hours into the game... and yet... apparently ive never gotten the smithing message on my main... only ever on alts... cause i cant craft any heirlooms. so wtf? is it impossible to get the message if you are level 30 or above? i havent retired in a long time so is that the problem? can you please give us some solid details on this chadz? cause i think its total bullshit that my hundreds of hours using the same looms is not enough for me to be able to have even a 1% chance of crafting some of those looms in strat.

so i hear the deal is that if you are 31+ you cant get the smithing message? if so... then WTF. im already giving up on looming items and getting more xp bonuses... why do i gotta get fucked over on smithing too? wouldnt it make more sense for a character who doesnt retire every week to learn his gear better than a level 1 char? DERR?!

edit: why the fuck couldnt we have had at least enough info about this shit to know that we are fucking ourselves over by not retiring and getting all the benefits of retiring? seriously... i was fucking myself over for like 4 months by not retiring... gave up looms and xp boost just so i could be more useful in strat... and then i find out i was gimping myself in strat cause only low level chars can learn how to craft. HERP DERP. sometimes i hate you chadz.

silly question perhaps but are you inside a town?

If so try moving to a village or castle

Im not sure if the crafting list is randomised from possible items or not as i could of sworn some items (like Lordly Gothic Plate) are missing from my list

i tried in a village and a castle, but not a town. but guys in the same fief as me have a huge list... but i only have the trade good... thats the only thing i can craft... i have like 1000 hours on my main... and i cant craft anything.

I was stated a while back that the all thine got more chances for being under 30. You get better stats for being level 31+ but lose out on smithing(not as often) and looms. Seems balanced, though does screw over those who don't read forums often.

how is that balanced? i was already screwing myself out of heirlooms and xp bonuses so that i could stay good level for strat... and it doesnt seem to be 'lower chance' for 31+ it seems to be 0% cause i cant craft anything at all nor can anyone else who stopped retiring... so basically, instead of 5 looms, 15% more xp per tick, and a fuckload of crafting options... i got to be level 31-33 for strat fights? GOOD DEAL... NOT.

I think it was clear from the very beginning that you could get that message only when under lvl 31. This kinda gives a "fresh" start to strat too, since being a lvl 34 char with 90% chance to craft WM armor, weapons and horses would be kinda .... stupid. You need to focus on either farming looms and getting crafting points, to become a crafter. Or get your char stronger on the battle field. It seems to be a trade off. And crafting seems to be quite expensive too, because for that I know. When you craft an item you get 1 of those items. Not 100 of them.
With high crafting skills you can craft quite a lot wm items per hour, but it might cost you even 10k per hour to do that :D
WM armors and weapons are probably only going to be used by the "spawn point" commanders, so they won't die that easily. And voila, now the "Lords & Ladys" of the land will be wearing superior equipment compared to normal soldiers. As it should be. Frankly the spawnpoint system doesn't quite work yet  :lol:
And we also need new "looks" for heilroomed items.

Come on, now. We all know NOTHING was clear about that message in the beginning. The first real facts about it didn't show up until, what, page 20 of the original thread? The facts are few and far between.

cant do smithing aswell, but I have always been over lvl 31 since it was introduced. Seems like we are fucked :)

I didn't want to start a new topic but I've found a possible bug.
I started to craft MW elite scimitars:

After 1 hour I made 4 of them, when I checked the price at "sell menu" it says that I can sell them for 142g each, so that makes 16g profit, I decided to sell them. After that my account status didn't changed. Before I started crafting items I had: 2441, after an hour and succefully crafted 4 items my account status was 1931g, and didn't received the money from selling 4 mw elite scimitars. Bug or feature?

PS The profit from crafting items is high (at least for me) so it needs some tweaking if there is possibility to sell them right after creating.

I just read the spoiler in strategus changelog, now I know that selling whose items to the bank won't give any profit, which is fine.

Now who's fault is it that you didn't read every post in a thread that went well over 40 pages? Honestly, after playing this game for as long as you have, you should know that you should be using super natural powers to look far into the future to see how often what seems like a sensible idea now will screw you in the end.
