I go x-bow for all my hybrids.  Everyone going thrower ruined it for me.  And besides, this way I can save skill-points.

I concur with Gorath.

Throwing if you have extra skillpoints sitting around and you don't want to convert, xbow if you want to drop a point or two into wpf and you're main wpf is past 120ish.

Throwing is more effective at the moment. The crossbow, if you want to use it effectively, requires you to play like a crossbowman basically, which means being a little off from melee, sniping archers, heroes, horses and other scumbags. While throwing is for getting kills in near-melee range, and it is much more effective due to the rate of fire and crossbow+ damage.

Go for a crossbow if you want to play more like a crossbowman. The upside of crossbows it that they don't require 6 or so skillpoints to use. (on the other hand, it's more worth it to get wpf for crossbows really, with throwing it matters less)

Funny thing: They both dont really require Wpf points (played both hybrids now with 2H sword)

Xbow with 110 wpf isnt satisfying due to bad dmg or bad reloading speed. If u have somewhat of a clue how to play it, siege xbow will do its job even with 0Wpf.

Throwing doesnt need Wpf either but is way more effective due to non existing reloadspeed.

Just talking about both as a sidearm.

And just like Nubert said...ranged is for noobs...

wel, i've been thiking about making a bec de corbin character, and i was thiknig something like this:

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 21
Agility: 18
Hit points: 58
Converted: 8
Ironflesh: 1
Power Strike: 7
Shield: 0
Athletics: 6
Riding: 3
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 6
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 151
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 52
Throwing: 1

that allows me to be great on the ground, but i had 4 extra skill points that would normally go to IF, but i don't think 6 hp does that much, so i'd ratehr have 3 riding. That will allow me to backstab archer or just go from one end of the map to another very fast.
The 52 crossbow is mostly for when melee doesnt work out too well, and it only costs 5 polearm wpf to get 52 x-bow.
