Nope, you can join any battle regardless of your location on the strat map.

But this is shit, why defenders spawn so big time before attackers?! All of them just got into our places and started to spawnrape us!

The c-rpg battle time said the battle was at eh. 17:35 or something, but when the clock was 16:10 the battle was over, wtf! Missed out on the battle; (

Go to settings, change the time. That will fix it. Also take not that you can set a different time for every character (lolwut?) so if you have your alt chosen it would show the time for that alt.
