This is the main usage of a pike in any war scenario, mainly against cavalry initiatives. Would love to see it implemented somehow, like a secondary mode of some sort.

I would like to see it put it and use to cause the horse to stop instead of the poke, but that might mess with stuff a bit.

I was just talking about this the other day! I really think this would be a great addition.
Also, shield bashing was something I'd thought about before as well, maybe as a replacement for kick if a shield is equipped?

I think shield bash should be a 2 foot knockback. Not a "stagger", like kick, which is to say it doesn't necessarily stop you from blocking, but it pushes you further than a kick would.
It might help shielders with the clipping problem of people running through them.

Really don't see why people want this so much, you rarely fight as a group of pikemen and bracing would just make you an easy kill for cav - ride around the pike and slash/poke, not to mention completely useless against melee.
I understand that this was how pikes were historically used, but this can't work in skirmish-like scenarios that most cRPG battles are. Also enjoy getting torn apart by anyone with ranged capabilities.

I agree with Fraemi, on an open field with your mates running higgledy piggledy as they usually do, this would be useless.
I would enjoy seeing it implemented, however. Because some maps have close streets and narrow passes which could be effectively blocked by two or three pikes, leaving archers behind to shoot down the lane. Another place you could use it is siege mode, particularly if you make it effective against infantry in some way (just slowing down their movement would be enough, or even making it possible to jab the pike forward at infantry to resume normal fighting mode).
As for the shield bash, I loved that in single player, but in multiplayer I can see it getting old fast. Having a way to attack while still blocking the whole time would turn fights with shielders into boring slapfests until the shield broke. I do think it's worth a trial to see if it wrecks the game though (if you can test bumping the rider of the horse as well as the guy being bumped, then you can test this), particularly if it can't be used simultaneously with kicking.

why not? you can block while kicking or even have attacks chambered which is goof y as heck

i remember the discussion about it. we came to the conclusion that its a nice animation and good for singleplayer, but sadfully its useless in multiplayer battles. you would just get shoot by archers or out turned by cav..

The shieldbash looks very awesome, would kinda unbalanced the game though. Pike brace is just useless, if you would implement it noone would ever use it.
