so how much wpf would i need to pick up javelins? because i want to make a decent 1h/ thrower hybrid
-
javs need 3 PT, and if speculation is to be believed (most likely not) you need between 12-14 wpf per level, not counting the first level of PT which is approx. 60 (?), so I'd say between 84-88 WPF
TL;DR 'bout 84
(talking through my hat, so please get some verification before investing the points)
-
depends heavily on the armor you intend to use, post your normal gear set up and it'll be easier to give an exact (ish) answer.

i use
lamellar vest
kettle hat
wisby gauntlets
huscarl
niuweidao
strange greaves

You need 13 effective wpf per PT and 14 effective wpf per PD.
So if you have 10 PT with 130 wpf, it'll work as long as you stay under the weight limit so that you get absolutely no wpf reduction since it'll get your effective WPF under the 130 required.
Weight limit I believe is something between 7 and 7.5.
Head is x2 weight and boots and gloves are x3 weight when it comes to the weight calculation for the wpf/weight limit thingymajig.
-
and if you go over the limit how much would it reduce the wpf?
-
The effective PT is lowered if you go ever the limit.
With 4 PT and the armor set you posted, you'd need about 81 wpf.
5 PT -> 94
6 PT -> 107
7 PT -> 120
-
and if you go over the limit how much would it reduce the wpf?
I'm fairly sure that every 1.0 in weight over the limit results in a -1% to wpf
-
ah thanks for the responses guys =D
-
i will do a 12/27 thrower ninja so i will wear black ninja equipments(black leammer, black hood with mask, khergit leather boots and leather groves) and what wpf i need for 4 pt and this weight?
-
For PT4 and this outfit it would be 64+-1 wpf.
-
thanks but i have changed my mind :)
-
What is the best pure throwing build? I guess with some left over points for ps?
-
Well, I finally retired Artie. :P Prolly shouldn't've.
Since it takes 13 wpf per PT, that means it takes 143 WPF for 11 PT. You'd need, like, level 32 for that, even if you sacrificed any points in athletics, and only put them into PT and WM. So I think what I've done with Artie is the best possible pure throwing build, and it wraps up at 10 PT.
Now that I've answered someone else's question, can you guys help me with one please?
I've retired Artie and I'm starting him over, but I need to know if CRPG still gives a warning in red text about having too little WPF for one's PT. Will that still show up, or do I just have to guess if my PT is getting nerfed?

pretty sure it only shows up if you are Low on WPF per PT and NOT receiving benefit from one of your PT point(s)

The red text means that you are holding a weapon with a difficult above your current "effective power throw." The values Paul has provided in this thread and others are the minimum throwing proficiency required to have a given effective power throw in a given combination of armor. From the values Paul has listed, it appears that the calculation for the required proficiency can be approximated as:
Required Throwing Proficiency for an Effective Power Throw Level = 13 * Desired Effective Power Throw Level + Throwing Armor Weight
where
Throwing Armor Weight = head armor weight * 6 + torso armor weight * 2 + leg armor weight * 2 + hand armor weight * 8 - 10
with the caveat that the maximum effective power throw a character can have must be less than or equal to their power throw skill level. I think it is also safe to assume that throwing armor weights less than 0 count as 0.
Another way to present similar information would be:
Maximum Effective Power Throw Level = TRUNCATE[(Throwing Proficiency - Throwing Armor Weight) / 13]
It would save me a lot of time if some throwers could comment on the accuracy of the above equations.

so if you are throwing, skimp on hand & head armor...good to know
-
WaltF4 that formula is pretty close. I used to have a 8 PT thrower with 1.8 head armor, 0.8 hand armor, 9.5 body armor and 0.8 leg armor. I needed exactly 129 WPF to use this set and according to your formula I would need 131 WPF (unless I fail at math). There are some more observations on this topic which might help: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,12507.0.html (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,12507.0.html)
Thanks for the formula, will certainly use it!
