Title: Toribash: free and unusual fighting game.

It's a turn based fighting game. no is not the usual arcade or similar... you have your dummy with all the joints a body need to move (elbows, knees, hips, shoulders, neck, waist, etc..) and you need to create combinations of joints (relax/contract/hold/extend) to move, generate kinetic energy to struck your opponent and to try to not fall down.

the game is free and the setup is really light. graphically the game sucks but the physic engine is just amazing... and the learning curve is well one of the hardest a game could have.

I tried it a year or two ago (?), might try it again. Don't really remember much about it, I couldn't be arsed to dive into it at that time.

Fucking awesome game, payed it for a while a few months ago, but its so hard to keep up with the good players.

I could just about stand up, jump and do simple thrust punches in multiplayer.

i remember i did 3-4 opening moves and some good noob matches in about 3 weeks playing it. in multiplayer, is really hard but talking with veterans, seems they started to move around comfortably after 3-4 months.

anyway the fact is this game is so hard to figure it out, that when you manage to execute your own moves effectively (even a simple but not so simple roundhouse kick), it's really rewarding.

hah i didn't know that... i gave up because it's really that hard... to play it at an average level, need to invest months (in my case). surely someone with a natural talent and intuition about physics can do it faster but...

Yeah I loved playing this game with all the Templars, just for the hilarity of it. I never really got the hang of it and I was only just starting to use the floppy modes with the stiff ones......*Insert penis joke*

The really good players are just depressingly good, but I take consolation in the fact that they probably all look like different versions of that fat gamer from the famous, south park world of warcraft  episode.

I played the crap out of this a long time ago. Loved the level where you were fighting your opponent on a pair of crossed beams with a blender below.

Tears thats like the best level ever! I like how you could grab onto "Uke" and pull him down and then somehow like jump back up and survive  8-)

I just started to play in a beginner's lobby. I had a 7 victory streak, even managed to piss of some experienced guy with my noobish grab and push, then kick the shit out of him tactics.  :lol:

Hmm, I started to get better and better, I even did a weird powerslam while backflip-kicking my opponent mid-air.

9 win streak, against quite good people in beginner's.

Damn I love this.  :)

Too bad I don't really have a flashy fighting style yet, I'm kinda like a wrestler, pushing and powerslamming people when I can.  :)

the hard part is improvisation in the middle of a fight. especially when your next move preview is so messed in the grab part. there a experienced player knows how to move... i think i never had success in grabs so i just developed some opening kicks and jumps to get the upper hand in the first 2-3 moves or lose. the newbies rooms are good enough anyway. most of players start to grab with both arms in a horizontal clamp so a good start is to either go in a crouch position then use the legs as springs to jump and kick.

Decided to download it again today and for some reason I was much better at it than before lol, actually won a few matches against good rank players :D. Fun game!.

Anyway, which style do you guys use? floppy or uke?

I use uke most of the times, I like rigid powerfull punches and throws, unlike the floppy fast and manuverable punches and throws.

I quite like the "flick your ankles to jump backwards flat on your back swinging wildly above the enemies head" move. I'm a complete noob and I cannot connect properly, the best thing I have done so far was rip my brothers head off by accident as he did the ankle jump into my floppy swing lol.

Could really do with some more move help xD

Youtube has some move tuts, also if you hit up things like:

"Toribash judo/whatever moves"

You'll get topics that tell some moves. I managed to split a multiplayer opponent in half the first frame with one of the moves lol.

Basically, for me atleast, you need to keep posture, you falling on the floor uke style you basically have lost, also the grab is your friend, as a good posture with a good grab will rip a player in two, and if your quite good you can do a move that if the enemy player is moving they make it worse, but anyway, if you go floppy, I really cannot help you, since I suck at going floppy and it just results me looking like a retarded person trying to jump.

I haven't laughed this much in ages, watching Hardness & my brother get blown apart by a wheelchair is hilarious... The mods are fantastic if a little insane! xD

Best thing about this game is just starting to play it for the first time with a couple of friends, you'll be laughing your ass of at everyone's failing and then the mods. Great fun, I couldn't be arsed to really try hard. After watching a video of some final of a tournament I got so discouraged and found it hard to believe I was playing the same game.

Well, if you're going to swing a punch at my face then you're going to get your arm ripped off by one of the most basic soft-blocks known in real life Karate lol. But I have to admit, when you grabbed my shoulder and all I did was pull away, taking your arm with it, it was a little extreme xD Although the most ridiculous was more than likely the double grapple which ended with you losing both your arms despite us doing exactly the same thing at the same time in the same way lol, I think the game liked me!

But you and the Katana fighting Zotte was brilliant, Ex-Shogunate vs Weeaboo, although I suppose Zotte shouldn't have thrown his Katana at me after he beat you, i'd never have won if he didn't! lol

EDIT: Also, with regards to the DM punch, it's probably a good job that I ducked then! :D

Certainly need some more people to join in... I can't keep getting killed by the same people over and over again can I..?

anyway toribash require 1000 times the skill bf3 needs tbh... and can run on crappy pentium 3 PCs, it's free.

just an example of a really small and indie free game can entertain more than the 90% of the EA games.

BF3 Beta is free untill tomorrow and then it's shut down. And to say BF3 does not require skill is just a biased opinion. (yeah hurr durr i was tired and didn't notice i wrote an...so shaddup you spaghetti freak).

Also i don't like the Jets so it would be like comparing (in my case) a M1 Abrams tank to a Bicycle. But who cares.

Also minimum req are pretty low.

Sell ur consoles or smthin and get a new PC. If you know where to buy the components i suppose u should be able to get 1 running it on low-medium under 500 bucks.

Not sure I'd be able to make that from selling my PS2 and PS1 and their games. Also my brothers still play xbox, and I'm not living at home home most of the time.

seems you can't read correctly. i said toribash require 1000 times the skill needed for BF series. i didn't said need no skill. just a lot less than that game.

if i don't like a kind of game, i usually don't go there wasting time with a snob attitude. (or maybe you tried it, got steamrolled and GTX... you know toribash isn't a game where you install it, run it, spam some bullets here and there and profit.)

we can compare em because are both games. if you just see a JET in the photo and not the metaphoric sense (a jet compared to a old skoda means something built with a lot of money where it's obvious it's cool and fast, while an old skoda means under that ugly appearance, cheap and almost free but that car can still drive to your destination and have a seat for you and your girlfriend... so basically to make it even simplier, cheap, ugly but still funny if you can appreciate it.)

not sure if you can still understand it... i tried.

Try going to work, or shopping with a jet.

Unless it's a hovering one, You'll need to build runways everywhere.  :mrgreen:

Lol that would've been sweet. Though i'd take the AH-1Z Viper heli instead. I won't have to land on runways and of course more space :D
