I spent a few hours doing this, to test if you can chamber arrows, or throwing weapons.
THERE IS A WAY TO DODGE ARROWS AND THROWING WEAPONS BY SWINGING!
I died many times trying this, you can try it to, and you will find it works!
It allows projectiles to COMPLETELY MISS, unless they hit your FEET.
Here are the steps:
1.It is NOT a chamber, have your weapon ready to swing BEFORE the projectile approaches.
2.OVERHEAD Swing when the projectile is coming near you!
3.The projectile will absolutely miss you if this is timed right, whether it goes through your head or upper body in the final swing animation.
4.Avoid getting shot from a high to low angle, as you will still be hit due to it hitting your feet.
I have 2 witnesses on duel server that watched this happen, Occitan_Tobi (throwing lances) and a disgruntled peasant bowman. Other people saw this as well, but were unsure what to think about it.
I took screenshots of how to perform the action, and I showed where the isntances of arrows, and lances had passed through me. In one of the pictures it shows where directly the lance had seemed to pass through me.
If you do not believe me, try it yourself, once again THIS IS NOT A TROLL POST!

I was the one shooting at him. It was on the NA Strategus Duel Server and when he swung at my arrow mid flight, his after swing made him duck and made my arrow go right through him. I also saw Tobi's lances go right though him too.

Pretty sure I've accidentally chambered a good number of arrows when I played a few generations as a rock thrower on Brunchlady.
But not what you're talking about. I would get a block sound like a chamber and the projectiles would disappear when I'm pulling my stones back.

Without a throwing weapon though!

well you have a nodachi. is pretty common in all the weaboo anime to see the local samurai/ninja to cut incoming bullets, arrows, bolts, throwing stuff etc... must be a nodachi/katana feature.
-
Shh, stop revealing secret ninja techniques to non-ninjas!

Most well forged bladed weapons can split bullets.
Metal becomes malleable at high speeds, on top of which bullets are extremely hot (and malleable) already from having just exploded out of a shell. But I digress.
Cool story bro.

Yeah now thats just stupid huey, no way you'd have time to do an overhead like that on a bullet, holding the sharp side of the blade towards the bullet however...

Pretty sure that would split the bullet just enough to blow of both sides of his head, or puncture both of his lungs.

Now show me an anime where they DON'T cut bullets in half.

So as a question to al of you guys, did most of you know that this was already do-able? Or is this relatively new?
-
it sounds interesting.
But i dont believe you can do it in a battle or siege, there are simply too many players

I didn't know, will test it, not sure if trolling still.

You have my word I am not trolling, but please, feel free to test this on the duel server! Let me know how the results come out!

My guess is that overhead animation fucks up the body hitbox, thus making the arrows go through you.

yeah.
He isn't chambering them, but rather dodging them by bowing.

Matrix mode is a feature.

Matrix mode
Now we need buttons that tell our avatar to "lean left", "lean right", "lean backwards", "say 'whoa'".

Can you not fraps it? Also is chambering couched lances possible because im sure ive heard the sound after seeing a lancer couch at me quite a few times.
-
Chambering couched lances is indeed possible.

There are diff. stories on that topic....
Never managed to chamber a couched lance....
As far as i know, its the same when chambering mauls. You can do it, will get stomped anyways though.
About this overhead projectile dodge....
Thats the hitbox moving away, he?
-

I did it few times in Native, so I guess it's possible in cRPG aswell. About the OP, I might want to test it, if it is true, it will be funny to see few "ninja wannabe" swinging overheads during the battle to avoid arrows...
-
Erathsmus, the damage from bows is very randomly. Get thee away and just stand, ask an archer to shoot at you. You will see that a lot of arrows do not cause any damage. :)
-
This thread is big time BS but, if you swing like a madman approaching some archer or xbow noob he'll miss in most cases, cause you'll seem too scary for him to regain his composure and actually get a good aim at you
-
I've got a better technique, go into thrust stance and squirm your characters head around while walking at the archer.
-
That helps to avoid being shot in the head and works similar like mad swinging (like a russian). Yeah I use it sometimes, cause mad swinging doesn't work on better ranged players like Panzerstyle for example.

Japan = stagnant culture.
-
I think it's not chambering the arrow or something.
When you do an overhit your bode it leaning down to the ground and sometimes the hitbox is weird in that moment.
Either you dodged the arrow by leaning forward or it went through you due to the weird hitbox (arrows going through people happens sometimes these days)
Every crossbow guy and every archer knows (or should know) that guys using crossbows are often accidently dodging incoming arrows by reloading their crossbow, which is almost the same animation as an overhead.
miracle solved 8-)

Japan = stagnant culture.
Guess Fukushima didnt help with that.

It's well known the bugs regarding hitboxes and projectiles, you don't even need to swing or dance like a monkey to bypass them. Already tested that aiming to the upper chest neck area it's almost a constant miss if running in a straight line, specially when with the presence of high latency. Also tested it standing still.
People that Q_Q about ranged should be quiet cause if half of our shots actually it when they should, they wouldn't be swinging like maniacs for much time.
I guess it sort of balances things..
-
I have seen my arrows/bolts going trew people and even horses from time to time.
Have not seen anyone hacking them away though, but i think Karasu is correct.
Its anoying when you see it happen when you are dueling a good HA/HX but it does not happen to often to make me upset about it.
-
You can chamber couched lances, I've had it happen to me and I've done it to other players, from foot and on horseback.
But this reminds me of the time I horse bumped a teammate in melee, he fell down of course and then the teammate behind him threw a javelin above his head while he was getting back up in order to kill the enemy player swooping in.
But still, the more reliable way to dodge arrows is to not swing and just dance around, swinging slows you down and will also make you vulnerable to counter attack by enemy infantry.
-
You are not Neo.
-
For someone like me who has complained quietly for ages, well not quietly on ts, about stones passing through people this isnt that new, but it does let me understand why it happens.
-
You are not Neo.
But I have his hairstyle therefore I am. =/
Anyway, as others have done, i'll speculate that it's just the hitbox not following the person quite accurate enough so it causes the projectile to pass through the player. Nothing another arrow can't fix, or turn and leg it because Sir Spamalot will never be able to catch you! :)

Japan = stagnant culture.
Globalised metropolitan= Stagnant culture
-
How is Japan a stagnant culture anyways?
-
I just count sequels.
Yes I saw that.

Strangely enough 3 stories from that series became reality. Car's being crushed into a cube for example.
Thinking about it it's a shame it was 30 Japan's, just 2 out.
-
Leshma, it's not BS, but I know you are a forum troll so w/e. Btw, this IS NOT CHAMBERING I merely discovered this while TRYING TO chamber.
People think it is just "Moving the hitbox." It is not!
The arrow or throwing weapon goes CLEAR THROUGH your upper body or head!
There is NO noise caused by this.
I am sorry I can't Fraps it, because I have no idea how, but like I said earlier, you guys can test this FOR YOURSELVES
Bold font for those in which it answers responses to.
Edit*- To test this for yourself, position yourself infront of an archer or thrower with an upper swing ready to swing (above your head). Let the swing go just as they let their shot go, and there you have it! Sometimes it will whiff due to bad timing though.
-

That is what I am suggesting, I think it is more like Miracle found, as opposed to Miracle solved.
-
Well actually when you lean forward with your swing you move your hitbox ;)
Because you can if everything is correct easily headshot a person leaning forward. So the hitbox was moved^^
And as we all know hitboxes are weird sometimes atm, so with leaning forward you moved your hitbox, but it's kinda fucked up so the arrow goes through you. This can also happen when you do just nothing
-
I dont think this is a "chamber" or a "block"...its prolly just a bug in the swing animation that lets objects pass through you at a certain point.
-

Read the bold in what I said earlier. It was never considered a chamber XD It's more of a dodge/bug.
-
Has anyone else here been able to confirm this?
-
Didn't enough people already confirm this in this thread?^^
It's well-known as we said ;)
-
This is old news to me, arrows passing through my targets is something I noticed 5 months ago or so.... -_-
