Title: Unbalanced attribute?
Post by: SixThumbs on October 03, 2011, 03:09:51 am
I've been playing M&B for a while now and I don't think I fully grasp the concept of weapons that are unbalanced. How much of a detriment is it really to the weapon?

Edit: the only reason I bring this up is because it appears you can actually feint faster with the drawback of a slightly longer cool-down for blocking or attacking again.

My understanding is unbalanced weapons have a smaller window for canceling swings/ feinting.  So they are less useful in duels and better to swing away with.

You can't feint faster since tap blocking an unbalanced attack won't usually even cancel the swing.

Harder feinting and swing canceling is one of the minor problems with unbalanced weapons.
The main downside is that they take a much longer time to recover from attacks, and are weapon stunned for longer. ie; You can not spam with them, and if you use one you are easy to be spammed.

The only reason I posted this is because you actually have to click faster from the moment you release the attack to when you block to initiate the feint, so I assumed feinting was actually quicker with an unbalanced weapon, and more often then not the feint comes out without the block animation.

Also, what's a castor swing? Is it when you feint late and the attack comes out as the end half of the swing animation?

A "castor swing" is a double swing technique.
It lets you swing twice on an opponent, hitting him when they should be able to swing back.
Unbalanced weapons have a very hard time doing this due to the added delay.
