Title: Buying loom points for +1 item

If I have a +1 item and want to buy a loom point to make it +2 how does this work?

Do I sell the guy my +1, he looms it and sells back for difference?

If anyone could tell me how it works or point to a thread (cant find one at moment) would be grateful.
