Title: Catapult backwards and forwards.
Post by: Tomas_of_Miles on September 28, 2011, 05:27:45 pm
I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to get the catapult to go in the right direction. Not left and right, but forwards and backwards. I'm not sure what controls which direction the catapult goes in after toggling "switch the brake". I have noticed that it stops when it hits something, and the direction it will go in afterwards is the opposite direction. However, I would like to find out how to control this more easily.

It's a bit weird sometimes, i agree.

One tip: it takes up to a second or two for the catapult to actually begin moving, so be patient when trying to toggle the break.

Also, it seems that certain terrain does not allow it to move forward, thus making it either do nothing (when trying to move forward) and then move backwards.

If all is working correctly you switch between these states: 1) moving forward 2) stop 3) moving backward 4) stop 5) moving forward etc etc etc

I don't think you have to hold down the brake to toggle it either, you can tap it and get it moving and stopping. So I guess that completing the bar or something is supposed to change direction.

Completing the bar on the brakes of the catapult is useless, i think. It triggers after first use. Not 100% sure though.

You are probably right. I just found that when toggling movement on and off, unless there was an object in the way, the catapult kept moving in the same direction when toggled on.

tap it to start moving, then you gotta stand close to the it or it will stop

and it run backwards when it stand on another objekt

The catapult is always moving forward. It's only going backwards if there is an object in the way and it can't go any further forward. Dunno why there is still no function to push it backwards.

I heard a rumour that there were catapults in strat battles.  I've never seen one, and as far as I know there are no strat battles going on right now.  Where did you find it?  And I have decided that you need at least 6 skill points in engineering to use the catapult, and 4 points for siege ladder, 3 for large wooden ladder etc. etc.

I was mad enough to buy construction sites and materials and pretty much all siege gear when it was useless, in the hope that some use would come of them. Construction sites and materials are available in the throwing section of gear, and can be used by anyone, but strangely enough noone wants to use a one-shot kill weapon in battle or build a mobile tower or have access to full healing or the options of changing their loadout and reloading their ammo. Their loss.
