What does your valor on the field has been rewarded mean? What is it and how does it work? Thx

Rewards you a +1 to multi if you're 1x,2x
Stay x3 if you're x3
Goes down by 1 if you're x4,x5
in a losing round (!)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is getting it random or is it for like for the last man standing or something?

From my observations you have to be one of the last people to die and you have to be in a fight before you die. Not sure though.
