It's already been suggested in other threads but I've decided to make it official :D
It's unrealistic but it will fix an issue we're dealing with every day.

Isn't this meant to have a poll?
On topic, archers now require others to carry their ladders which = teamwork, so i'd say no to having every archer being able to carry a ladder.

Think again before you post...
First of all, every archer who wants
to get on roof is already there in first 30 seconds as the round started. After that they break the ladder and thus make roof inaccessible. At least things work like that on EU1.
This is meant to help us others to get uo during the round.
Also ranged players usua dont have free slots to carry any ladders themselves...

Those are map ladders and they were removed for a reason. If I didn't know better myself, I would thought you started playing this mod yesterday, Lizard...

He's talking about using WSE to make deployable ladders indestructible but able to be knocked down like the map ladders. It's not the first time this idea has been floated around, I've heard it quite a few times. Really, Leshma, it's almost as if you started playing this mod yesterday.

That takes time and a lot of effort. What I'm suggesting will fix problem immediately and every idiot can do it (change few numbers). When they make it possible throught WSE they could revert small wooden ladder to previous state.

This would be an amazing boon for achers, that's for sure.
1 slot bow , 2 stacks of arrows, 1 weightless ladder. Deploy the ladder early on and later when melee pushes find a dead guy and take his sword.
or
2 slot bow, 1 stack arrows, weightless ladder. Hold ladder till midround- deploy in unexpected location near enemy lines. Rain death from relative safety, as an added bonus halfway through the round enemy ranged is thinned so even safer strategy.
Even though this would make my playtime as an archer significantly easier, i think this would horribly unbalance the game and lead to very frustrating situations for melee where every archer was on a rooftop and every melee had to carry a spare ladder.

Yeah nice gear, but you don't have anything for defending yourself...
Also EVERY ARCHER IS ALREADY ON THE DAMN ROOFTOP, so there is no possibility that number of rooftop monkeys will increase cause it's already at maximum.
I don't mind carrying ladders cause I have one free slot left but I do mind their weight.

This would probably make assaulting roof campers easier, if anything. You only need one ladder to camp, but you need multiple to assault. I would be okay with this.

Archers only get on rooftops when their teammates bring ladders. Currently you only see this during heavy population times if someone thoughtful (usually a clan player) brings and sets one up. If you want to make it so that archers really are on rooftops every round, by all means please push this change. Like i said, it would personally benefit me greatly, despite completely removing cav and melee who don't carry the newly standard ladder in their loadout from the initial threat list.
I also pointed out how to deal with the "nothing for defending yourself', but beyond that moreso than manual blocking an archers defense is his speed. If you're in melee range something has already gone horribly awry.

Sorry but I don't play on less populated servers, so have no idea what's happening on those. But roof camping is a huge issue on EU1 and easiest way to fix is what I propossed.

Exactly the reason why I suggested this. I want to be able to get on roof in the middle of the round but I can't afford to carry weight 15 ladders with me for half the round...

So you're saying you want a balance change but you really don't care how it affects any server (by the way i was talking about times, all servers are low population at some point in the day) other than the specific one you play on. Thanks for clearing up what your idea of a good balance suggestion is, it will be very helpful for future reference.

Anyways, there is reason why deployable ladders are better than ladders which stay on the ground and can be "activated".
Map ladders give advantage to archers cause they always stay on the same place and it takes time to get them up. While doing that, you're unable to react for 5 seconds which means archers can change their position for better shooting angle. And if there are melee players guarding them, it's easy for both archers and their defenders to hold the attackers cause they usually attack from one side.
With player placed ladders it would be like siege, ladders everywhere. In few seconds any house or roof will be surrounded by player placed ladders and archers would be forced either to jump down or die.
But someone in the dev team has these crazy ideas how realism is a good thing so ladders will probably stay super heavy. Just like what they did with pikes, making them unsheatable. If pikes were still sheatable cavalry wouldn't be a problem at all.
Slots are somewhat good idea because it serves a balancing purpose.
(Un)sheatable weapons is crazy realism based idea and I hate the one who made that change.

No, because it's foolish to make a balance suggestion for a single server and anyone reading will probably pick up on that. You cannot possibly be this dense, is this whole thread a troll? Are you really that deeply rooted in your internet "we rock they suck cause we're from here and they're from there" tribalism?

"it would be like siege, ladders everywhere", wow that sounds so great Leshma, truly you have cracked the code. The only way to make cRPG battles great is to give everyone and his mother a ladder. That'll reduce the number of roofcampers for sure.
