Title: i am leaving (to devs)
Post by: gazda on September 24, 2011, 07:02:29 pm
The mod is dying.

Development of this mod is going way too slow. Combine that with the fact that most of the devs are just plain idiots and you got a dying mod.

From patch to patch you keep "balancing" items, you take a 42cut damage sword and turn it to 43, woohoo go devs, you sure did make a nice job. It is just pointless. Keep the things like they are now. You could have kept them as they were in .200, .220, .230, .240, it doesnt matter, it would be same shit. Changing it constantly is pointless. No matter what you do, things are gonna be the same, your whole balancing progress is just a nerf after nerf, bringing down the fun. Cavalry will always be over powered, archers will always be annoying, ALWAYS. And how about xbows, only item that was always been truly overpowered without any logic in it, avoids nerfeing for ages. Dev like xbow, dev no nerf it huur duur.

You are just developing too slow, it took you 6 months just to reboot old strategus?! All hopes for saviour of this mod lay in 1.grinding mentality of players(for which you dont have to do anything, you just have to watch and do nothing, and from what i see your doing a good job. 2. strategus, and what is strategus, its everything but a interesting and fun persistent campaign. It should have been cool inovative and fun when you put it on paper, but when you do it, it doesnt even get near that. Its just a plain map with tons of clans hybernating for some time, and when everyone has accumulated some troops they capture ai villages, towns and castle and then its done. You are looking at the map with differently coloured squares. Wheres the fun in strategus? Being a big clan and grinding more troops then all other small clans would do together and knowing noone can beat you? is that fun? or being a small clan and not having chances against any bigger clan? o boy that sure is fun. Only good part of strategus are actuall battles, we remember them as a place where you could do some serious teamwork and have fun.

Strategus is idea that cant be done properly, at least not for a free mod of a not so famous game. It just doesnt work. As long as you have grinding, you will have players, but we all know its just sad.

Best thing for Warband communty would be destruction of crpg. And forcing grinders to play other, way better mods then this.

Strange...

Numbers seem to be high, compared to when I first started... Still lotsa players.

I keep seeing old faces drift away, but that is normal for not many people stick with something forever, and I keep seeing young faces break into glory and become regulars...

I think you are just personally nearing your "I'm done with this mod" as most people will eventually, whether it takes months or years, almost everyone hits that.

I'm flattered. You're of course referring to my absence, yes that would indeed seem like the death of any game/mod... When such a great player like me leaves or is unable to play it can become stale and hopeless. Fully understandable.

However, do not relent! I will be back! Heed my words, the returning of mine will be compared to Lord Jesus Christ's himself.

I'm not sure what this is about... I mean I was expecting some kind of "do this or that (and buff me) so the mod stays alive!" like all the other ranters. How about we let everyone decide for themselves if the At fifteen, I had the will to  learn ; at thirty, I could stand ; at forty, I had no  doubts ; at fifty, I understood the heavenly Bidding ;  at sixty, my ears were opened ; at seventy, I could  do as my heart lusted without trespassing from the  square.. It's not for me, it's not for others, if it's for you, that's sad, but you are in the minority. Good luck in finding a multimillion dollar corporation suiting your needs better.

In other words: the At fifteen, I had the will to  learn ; at thirty, I could stand ; at forty, I had no  doubts ; at fifty, I understood the heavenly Bidding ;  at sixty, my ears were opened ; at seventy, I could  do as my heart lusted without trespassing from the  square. when all of the 6000 (edit: 7025, i had to check so I don't release false info :P), active players per week stop playing. Until then, it's alive for those, as well as me, and the other devs.

Duh.

7000? I remember some time ago, on another thread about this topic, the number was 3000. c-rpg is steadily growing!

it's around 3000 to 3500 per day. Not everyone plays every day. 7000 is per week.

This mod and Warband in general is only going to truly die once the new gen games of the same type come out, War of the Roses and that other one who's name I always forget.

Due to the unique nature of the gameplay (no, war of the roses is not the same) I think it will always live on like the TW series does.

www.twcenter.net is a perfect example of how old games can still be Juggernauts. The mod forum sub-sections alone are huge.

So bring back the crap that made the mod start to die, and take away the stuff that allowed it to grow?

I say throw out the old players that want the dying mod back, and bring in more new players that want the new growing mod.

I don't want to see barmaces on horseback again, nor laser sighted ballistic missile archers, nor that throwing spam from hell ever again.

That's essentially what's already happening.  Be patient, we're old and it takes us a while to fully leave but we're getting there.

Oh, and oldmy old friends > newmy old friends always.  Enjoy your nooblings.

No I mean little arse squirts who befriend devs and admin's precisely because of their said positions so that previously mentioned arse squirts have a mention in the direction of the mod and are also treated better and considered more by said devs as a result of aforementioned arse squirts ambitions in the community.

Warband is just one year old so the communty is still young and more and more mods are comming. Most of them are just personal crap to be honest, and most of them are for singleplayer. There are alot mods worth playing but the grinding mentality of players is forcing them to choose crpg !! Only mod that can has a decent playerbase is mount and musket, and thats it. Its basicly m&m or crpg. no alternatives.

but there is one mod that might make difference

you still don't make any sense. You see, I believe in a free market. Especially when the choice is actually _free_.

If there is another mod that is "better" or "preferred" by the majority - fair enough. Enough people will switch over and have fun. I'm not even bothered by it. If people think some other mod and / or game gives them more pleasure, who am I "forbid" them or be mad at them if they do. All we're doing here is providing an option - one that apparently the majority of the players of warband likes.

So when another mod comes out that's better - great, switch over.

What I don't get is this constant bickering that cRPG is dead. We had that since the very beginning. I think after the first week there were people saying "fun for a week, but it will die after". Needless to say, it didn't, it grew stronger and stronger. If you check the forum, you'll see that the most players EVER logged in at the same time was a few days ago. Is this what a dead mod looks to you?

Most people have the decency to just leave if they get bored of something. I don't like something? I leave it. There is no need to run around screaming "HEY EVERYONE I AM LEAVING YOU HAVE TO LEAVE TOO!". Unless you got hurt and want to hurt someone back.

So how did cRPG hurt you, and why are you trying to hurt it back?

Kill 2H.

New players don't like 2H cause they suck at it and most old players love 2H.

How about you add literally every single cRPG server to your favorites list, that might help to get an appreciate for the numbers.
Secondly, remember that every MMO has a significant amount of Casuals that only play for a few hours a week, inflating numbers further.

Around 400 EU and 250 NA players are on at peak hours for a day... this is not counting the people who show up on other times, nor the AUS, RUS, China or that one Japan server. For a whole week? I can easily believe that there is 7000 players when you throw in the casuals.

3 minutes of perfectly good development time, that could have brought us amazing new features and prevented the mod "from dying", wasted on writing this response to a completely irrelevant part of the community that is trying to achieve the absolute opposite of the aforementioned points.

Congrats, gazda, you just killed crpg.

I'll be honest, from what I've seen you post on these forums, this is a surprise.  Honestly, I believe that cRPG is only about the grind if you (the player, that is, not any specific individual) make it about the grind.  If the only goal is to get money and gold, and to grind away those ticks slowly and painfully, then one will play poorly, perform poorly, and generally have a poor outlook at the mod itself.  If the goal is to have fun, then one will play better (if not well), perform better (if not well), and generally only have xp and gold ticks pop up as a pleasant surprise, and levels as well.

I started out with cRPG when I was quite new to Warband, back when dying next to the group was incredibly important.  I had no ability to manually block, I had no understanding of the system, and the mod, as a whole, was generally unpleasant and unrewarding because I was a lackluster player.  It wasn't the mod that was bad, it was my mentality as a player at that time (and the fact that I couldn't even die next to a group.  I mean, how easy is that?).

In short, whatever choice you make about the mod, however you feel about it, I truly believe is a result of your own, personal mindset regarding it.  If that mindset isn't there for a player, then it isn't there -- blaming the mod, from which fun is derived by the player and not some set or system that implants it into the player, simply seems immature and comes off as a rant.

Crpg is grinder community, thath the way its gonna be forever. Since most of people want to grind its still alive.
