I think that the current horse bump damage is way too high, especially for armored horses - when a horse can bump you to death in 6 hits while wearing a total of 60 armor, having 27 str and 4 IF.
My suggestion is to nerf it by 30-50% in order to make it more of a teamwork-ability, giving your teammate a free hit instead of making horsebumps a killing machine.
EDIT:
as this is a general nerf, i cant give an accurate stat change suggestion, it would have to be decided horse by horse, this is mroe of a general "is horse bump dmg to high?"
-
I have to agree, since the latest patch I have been getting a ridiculous amount of horsebump kills.
-
Yes
-
Yeah been seeing a lot more bump kills in general. Even with light horses.
-
Its silly. Had an armoured horse stop 5 feet from me, spin and bump and cost 50% health. Silly.
-
I kinda agree with this. Personally I think the bump damage is too low AND too high at the same time. A full on charge bump should really do a lot of damage OR knock you down for 3 or 4 times as long (NOT BOTH!!!!), while bumping on anything lower than gallop or fast trot (derp, right words?) should do none to very little damage and only push people away, not fall down.
So basically:
Full speed headon bump more damage.
Silly slow trot push aside negligible damage.
-
maybe it was supposed to come with the bump bump rider thingy
-
if you lower the bumb damg, you will have to lower the repair cost.
-
Higher bump damage was ok with the reflective horsebump, but with that removed it's slightly ridiculous. Playing with a short weapon and lowish armor gets hillarious when 3-4 horsebumps could kill you.

this is reasonable

Also increase the speedloss when bumping to like 30 or 40% so you cant bump through 5 people and still be att full speed.
-
I consider the horse bump damage to be good as it is. It really makes sense as such a thing would really be a powerful attack. However, what I find OP and unrealistic is the way that a horsebump barely even slows the guy on the horse. Imagine that you're an asshole and go around running over kids about half your height. You're not going to go through them and come out running at a high speed. Most of the time, it may actually trip you and bring you to a full stop. Yet I can get on my horse an trololol through an entire crowd if they're not looking behind them and still get away before anybody I didn't run over swings at me unless they saw me coming ahead of time.

When a horse can bump you to death in 6 hits while wearing a total of 60 armor, having 27 str and 4 IF.
so you get run over by a an armored horse 6 times and you complain about it? That's like saying I got hit by a massive hammer 6 times in a row and it killed me.
This seems perfectly fine, if you don't want to get bamped, get a polearm or stand near someone with one, you will find most horses will leave you alone.
-
I think horse bumps should be one hit kills, unless people make a habit of being trampled by a 900+ pound beast (not including armored ones) multiple times at full speed, and living, or even being able to get up and fight like nothing happened.
-
Blah no. It's fine. Learn to dodge.
-
I agree with one hit kill, its the only sensible solution.
-
+1 to one hit kill.

^valid argument

^very valid arguement im a glaive they usually avoid me like the plague unless they got some skill

There should be 3 kinds of horses.
a transport horse , normal speed, no armour, no bump capabilty. For getting from A to B faster than on foot scouts, engineers. The romans had mounted archers, but they used the horse only for transport, getting off the horse to engage.
Maybe 2-3 extra slots for carrying extra gear(ladders, siegeshields, contruction sites).
fast mobile light armored horse used mainly for lancing ,HA and such. Bumping with them should do low or no damage, and damage the horse equally.
And armored warhorses , slower ,high armour beasts trained to trample footsoldiers severly with armor soaking up the damage to the horse.
Price according to balance.

This is not a matter of reality, it is simply a matter of game balance and more importantly; increasing the enjoyability of the game.

You are right, it should be about increasing the enjoyability
Horse bumping should be buffed I love bumping the shit out of fools

fortunately this poll shows that the majority of the people who care about this and are active on the forums think the opposite.

ok sec

Imagine a horse wearing full plate, or armour or whatever, bumping you 6 times and how painful and dead you would be.
Then remove poll and lock this pointless thread.

If you reflect a decent amount of damage on the horse, +1. Ever tried running over a midsized cactus? And make those 1h riders able to chop their horses legs off when they try to hit someone below their horse.

only if pike users become handicapped and unable to move from breaking their spine when they do a high speed spinning pike attack
-
I just re-read the OP.
Yeah nerf bump dmg.
Make it so that a horseman needs to make 20 bumps so you can get reinforcements to come rescue you with pikes and longspears and that polearm rearing trick and archers and OP xbows and camping rooftops and 2h outreaching lance and crappy map rotation with too few open maps and recent cav nerfs and you get the picture.

This thread is becoming pointless with too much spam/trolling/whining and too little rational discussion. Furthermore Polehammer probably screwed the poll by convincing his cav friends to vote since, following his little comment, 'No' got 5-10 extra votes in 5 minutes.
So here are a few suggestions:
Stop trolling, whining and making pointless post, use arguments instead to prove your point and convince people.
If your only argument is realism, take this to the new realism forum (cretaed so we dont need to read it while actually discussing balance)
Don't post the same over and over again, it's just plain annoying - if you have nothing new to say, stay out of the thread.
Now i'm left with a few options:
1. Delete this ruined thread and let it be (which i wont)
2. ask a mod to clean it up and then reset the poll (which they probably dont have time for)
3. lock the trhead and create a similar one, hoping people will actually discuss this in a better way.
I'll probably go with 3 when i get back

or 4. be a retard
I think you followed 4 quite well.
Bumping did a shit ton more damage in the past, it's perfectly fine now, easy to kill horses, just pay attention, even if you don't have a pole arm or long range weapon.. It's not 1 or 2 hit like it use to be, which was more realistic and was still fair essentially..
2h not even cav, I think there would be a lot of crying if cav got nerfed again though.

This is a fine example of random shit that should just stay out of serious balance threads, but i guess some people just can't help it...

and you consider your spam NOT spam? You didn't post a single relevant thing to this thread, and I posted my opinion regarding it, perhaps you should instead of just posting useless shit?
