OK, so i have idea: to make daggers actually daggers that kill, not weapon only for style (because u cant really kill anyone with dagger... too low dmg etc)
Now they look:
Dagger:
200 gold
weight 0.25
requirement 0
spd rtng 112
weapon length 36
swing damage 22, cut
thrust damage 24 pierce
Gen1= 112spd 24cut 26pierce
Gen2= 113spd 25cut 27pierce
Gen3= 114spd 26cut 28pierce
Long dagger:
300 gold

swing damage 23, cut
thrust damage 25 pierce

+ You can block with it.
+ You cant use shield.
These stats would make dagger real weapon, not scizor, with which you cant even block!
Dagger still shouldnt let you block, but longer version - long dagger - should let you block, if you know how!

I tried to make a bandit character with the long dagger and yes the thrust from it is a bit delusional so I kinda gave up tough I managed to kill some people with it but it's hard.

38 pierce on a onehander? I foresee agility build abuse in combination with shields.

I just foresaw a high athletics build which would give you close access if you used a shield.
I agree however without the shield. It would be nice to have a dagger being usefull.

Even if they are short they will become a spammer weapon. On the other hand if they can't block (not the long one either) you can keep them at a distance easily

I always pack a dagger and a Khyber knife. They are cheap and work well for killing peasants.
In my mind killing peasants who are too low level to defend themselves is the purpose of the knives and daggers.
They are never intended to go 1 v 1 a real weapon user. So there is a mistake in the poll.

Never stopped me to take a dagger just for the looks.
41 pierce on a nearly invisible weapon with 106 speed is just ridicolous because you know you can take 30 agi and facehug like mad.

Yeah, what Dravic's suggesting would pretty much rape the long dagger. Though I don't mind the inability to use shields with them, the ability to block would be just wrong. Overall I'd like to see daggers getting a slight damage increase, like dagger 24c/27p (Old 22c/24p) and long dagger 25/28p (Old 23c/25p). But since I'm probably the only one who ever tries to use them nobody can be arsed to change them.

I did use it on my alt it was very fun killing people with it I even managed to headshot a running cav (Obviously the horse) with it downing him with 1 thrust was awesome moment :D

Pre-patch I used a long dagger/steel buckler combination with 24 agility and it worked pretty well.
You're fast as hell and with sufficient athletics you can face hug easily.
Making the thrust damage that high would make me carry one just to 1 hit kill archers by stabbing them in the back with it.

Well, athletics is not what it used to be anymore, and there's other onehanders with such damage.
