Hey just wondering if there were any awesome shield users that would be willing to meet me on a server and help me improve my fighting technique. Thanks.
-
I am sorry mate, but if you require a TUTOR to use a SHIELD then I would go back to the special school.

Ah dont blame him.
Shield players can also learn some tricks to get better and i guess thats what he wants to learn.
-
haha yea i get your point. I just wanna refine my skills. Work on footwork. hear advice. etc. I last played this game about a year ago and there were mentor sessions that some people did for all of the styles. just looking to get better is all.

Left-to-right attack:
pro:
- perfect when being up close because of decent sweetspots
- good chance for head hit
- fast(hits decently even in early animation stage) and thus spammable against weaker players, especially shielders
contra:
- short range, often misses swaying or backpaddling players
Right-to-left attack:
pro:
- long range, perfect to catch dodging opponents
- also a good opening attack because of the surprisingly long range
contra:
- bad sweetspots, bounces when hitting too early
Overswing:
pro:
- damage bonus AND good chance to hit the head
- often hard to see and block for unshielded opponents
- low chance for teamhit in group fights
contra:
- sometimes hard to land because its active phase is a lot shorter than 2h overswing
- takes some skill to hit a dodging target
Thrust:
pro:
- rarely used and thus often surprising
- can be quite effective with good speed bonus
contra:
- hard to master because it needs a slight turn to effective
- bounces often because of horrible sweetspots(needs turning)
- stuns a bit after getting blocked(certain death against hammermen)
Learn when to use which attack and don't be too passive. Especially in group fights.

Well, I could probably give you some training if you'd like to. Hop on Risen TS (amsterdam2.voipservers.net:10000) and hit me up (Jarlek) and we can do some training.
I've actually been thinking of offering some generic tips tricks and guides to all players for all classes. Getting them on TS and teach them stuff. From the basics (attacking, blocking, positioning) to information (what IS chambering, bumps and kickslash?) and advanced tactics (group fighting, rambo, formations, goading etc).Anyone thinks people would be interested?
