I just got done having a discussion with my friend over steam, he said that in his light kuyak with 9 athletics, Goretooth was running just as fast as him, so he concluded he was an 18/27 build because of how high level he is, regardless of whether or not that's his build. The point is that someone in full black armor, heavy gauntlets, black greaves and a great helmet, would be able to run as fast as someone with 9 athletics in a light kuyak.
This puzzles me because of the huge weight difference between everything they were wearing. I would like to get feedback on this post and see what you guys think of the armor weight for melee classes, Thank you.

With 27/14(L30), milanese, plate mittens, Shynbaulds, sallet with visor and bec I see a MASSIVE difference when I put up nordic warlord helmet instead of sallet with visor... and just about everyone can outrun me... give me some of that stuff you americans are smoking...
-
Well I'm a a 2 hander myself, with 7 athletics being an 18/21 build i can barely notice a difference between my milanese plate and my green tunic over mail, IDK if It's just me but this is why i wanted feedback.
-
With 7 ath, i notice a
huge difference between my light-armor-set and the heavy one.
But its mostly during the accelerator phase, max speed is close tho.
-
yeah that's what i mean, at max speed i barely notice a difference.
-
I say yes.
My 12PS 11IF 0WM swings noticably better with his robes then he does loaded out in Transitional Armour... Or I am crazy...
-
I think he was talking effect on running speed, not so much on wpf.
-
You could ask him.
-
thats because athletics determines acceleration, not top speed. armor nerfs athletics but theoretically the top speed should be unaffected.
-
What'd be really funny is if Tincans couldn't stop once they hit full steam!

Try heavy armor + 2 huscarl shields + 2 hammers. You are a fucking truck. And you can indeed feel the inertia when you slow down

No, your top speed is slower, thats why archers can kite

I can just see it now. Goretooth is chasing two peasants around the map, one jumps up on a roof, while the other runs inside. Goretooth bellows at them for a while, threatening to ban them. They taunt back, Goretooth backs up, backs up some more, then backs up a little more. He starts charging. By the time he reaches the building, he's hit full steam, goes in one side, out the other. The building collapses, dropping one peasant on top of the other. Goretooth manages to turn around, points his bec at them, and says "Banned!".

Well, I'm not saying there's not a difference in running speed, (and yeah I'm not talking about attack speed) I'm just saying is it even that noticeable. Yes I'm sure It's noticeable between like leather armor and Churburg Cuirasses or something, but between armor like heraldic mail with tabard and transitional, not about the actual acceleration but the top speed like Oberyn mentioned.
-
It's very noticeable.

Exchange your usual gear for a peasants disguise, the difference is huge. Back when I was a ninja there was even a difference between my light ninja gear and my 'heavy' ninja gear. You probably dont have eyes, but the difference is very noticable, also when you reach top speed.

To be more specific, I class everything below lamellar as light armour (<9.5), 10-15 weight as medium, everything beyond as heavy.
Personally I see little difference between medium and heavy armour acceleration and top speeds. Light and everything else there very much is a difference.
p.s (little does not mean none btw)
