Title: Best Things About This Game
Post by: ArchonAlarion on September 15, 2011, 04:38:18 pm
At Kenji's request, list the best things about C-rpg or M&B in general!
Directional combat; Could be implemented in basically every FPS/RPG game with melee combat General lack of restrictive class types "Relatively" realistic medieval combat, for those of us who were looking for that in a game Teamwork/tactics Servers of over 60 players Goofy ways players emote/express themselves in game High level of community involvement

For me, other than what OP has stated, here is my list:
- The freedom to wear any armor and wield any weapon as long as the requirement is met. - The above gave wider variety to RP - The game is player skill over equipment, a peasant with a scythe can kill a tincan on a tincan horse. - cRPG is balanced, period. - Developers are responsive (Sometimes in a comical way) and certainly has the playerbase's interest in mind.

Riding a horse and fighting from Horseback. Thats because I started to play Mount and Blade.
Definitely a big selling point for me. Horse combat was done well; the controls are intuitive (mostly). Although it's annoying, I am glad the devs added friendly horsebumping, to make cavalry tactics a bit more realistic.

Definitely mounted combat, as far as the base game is concerned. I came to Mount and Blade back in the day specifically for this reason, after seeing a short video on Youtube. No other game does it, and if they do, it's nowhere near as realistic or well done.
As far as cRPG goes, it's definitely the RP elements, and the camaraderie. Unlike Native, people that play cRPG play to progress, to build their character up, get cool new gear, so they keep coming back. In Native, everyone pretty much played where ever, you didn't really get a chance to get to know the players from one day to the next.

Servers with 100 and more players, I luv that.
People who play properly, mature people, people with a sense of humour, friendly people, people who don't delay (although I love Jackie's delaying for teh lulz), people who don't tk often, people who cancel their swings, people who know how to downblock, people who know how to ride horses, people who don't cheat/abuse/exploit/hack, people who try to get better at the game, people who use tactics, people who like melee combat, people who have style...
Sadly, there ain't many of such players in this mod but they are there somewhere, you just have to look for them. I found already nice portion of such people, they make my playtime much more rewarding and I would like to thank them for that :)

Ragdoll corpses and hilarious face-grabbing deaths. This is a brutal game. Surprised some politician or whatnot hasn't complained about the massive amounts of horse-butchery, but I guess this is a fairly low-profile title.
