Title: Character that GROWS in SIZE - with Ironflesh
Post by: Danath on January 25, 2011, 01:05:45 am
Wouldn't that be AWESOME?

People with 30 Str and 10 ironflesh look BIG. People with 25 Agi look slightly thin and normal height (no str).

Then you could start telling the giant ogre destroyers that can survive Couches from the speedy 200 WPP Ninjas apart.

This would add an element of fear and suspicion into the game

Please consider adding this feature if possible based on some kind of combo of the player's STR, IF and/ PS.

Who wants to see that giant guy in Troy run (walk) around in CRPG? I do.

Really hoping there is some kind of char x 2 multiplier or something chadz can do to auto increase model size easily. If so this seems like an awesome addition to the game

Yeah more or less. I was thinking 6'5 or so but yeah between 5'5 - 6'3. Nothing fancy just increase the model size no extra muscles or whatever. Sure hope MB lets you do that...

The real stumbling block with this idea, aside from feasibility, is hitboxes. Even if it's possible, it would either be a nerf of STR builds by making strong chars easier to hit, or lead to annoying hit detection issues if the boxes weren't adjusted to match.

Maybe hitboxes too can be easily expanded mathematically.

Would be great with a modder could check out the easiness of this idea its kickass.

Yeah, but that's what he was saying...it would be a nerf of str builds.

I have a thrower with 35 str and 11 IF.  Although he would look awesome, I would not want to be bigger.  I would be an easier target for archers and throwers (towering above my team), and I would be a bigger target for horses, which would make it harder to sidestep.

Good idea Trollbane.

For example: at the start of the game your char (with 0 IF) looks like this:
(click to show/hide)

...and later on when you pump IF up you transform into something like this:
(click to show/hide)

P.S.
When you die and your corpse spends some time on the ground it should look like this:
(click to show/hide)

Well firstly, its cool, secondly, tanks are bigger in real life. So realism factor if anyone cares about that. "The bigger they are the harder they fall" etc. Also, a bigger model, longer arms? One advantage

No. Horses would be easier target for you. Just step on horse's head.

Also, if you can use flamberge as onehanded weapon.... with str30 at least...

might as well give them a flamberge in each hand and have them spin around in a circle like the Barbarian in Diablo 2.  yeah.  not the same game.
no whirlwind pls.

Tie it in with strength instead of iron flesh and then you'd have something. It'd be a trade-off between damage output and avoidance.

You'd need some kind of buff to compensate for the larger hitbox. Already, AGI-stackers are at an advantage, and with larger hitboxes for STR-builds, they would completely take over and STR-builds would disappear. Maybe give them the horse bump ability, if they have 10 str more than the bumped. Or the small horse bump that happens when you move close to a thrower...

hurrr huurrrr, u know real tanks wher usually small / medium sized since the more sturdy build people can wair heavy armor better then , longer taller people? i mean the amount of derp posted in this thread is really epic. common, abit of logical thinking would clearly come to the conclusion that having different player sizes > weapon lenght sizes, would like fuck up the whole combat system/ballance.

my 2 cents: dont post while on crack, or if u remember ur mother always calling u special and such a unique child

edit* yes this is abit trollish, il be honest: the vision is cool , but it is not made for mount and blade engine imo, and to make it work would be alot of manhours. derp derp

You could make ironflesh a larger bonus to account for the larger hitboxes. You could also make things like horse charges and falls do less damage, or invulnerable to knockdown, etc.
