I've been enjoying my 2H cav character, and recently decided to switch off morning star to Sarranid Battle Axe. It's 45 cut (no one has plate anymore so cut damage is fine), it has a long reach... Was there something special about morning star which made it such a favorite 2h cav weapon? Because I'm getting way more kills with this nice shiny axe, yet I'm the only one I see using it from horseback.

The crushthrough+speed bonus instakill? That was removed though...

Ah, that explains why I was sucking so bad with morningstar post patch :)

Maybe the days of 2H cav are over...I'm the only one on NA I see, everyone else is polearms...

I see a few on EU who use the bar mace from horseback.
-
Not an awful idea, I think i'll buy one and test it out. Need something to loom once i hit 31, since Heavy Rouncy gets worse after a loom.

Ugh bar mace is 5k and short, I think i'm better off with my current set up:
Scale Armor
Mail Coif
Leather Gloves
Mail Chausses
Heavy Rouncy
Sarranid Battle Axe

22k = still make $$

You pretty much have to play on the winning team to afford using a horse in the first place...
The thing is, you can pretty much kill anyone with two hits, if you have speed. The axe works well for breaking shields, but... your on a horse. If you can score a hit with that, you can also push them aside enough to move the shield.

That's pretty much about luck;
Yeah if your horse "breaks" 5 times in a row so is that hard to repair.
But that's quite rare.

I have a horse every round and have went from 38k to 100k since patch. Now it's a shitty rouncy that is luckily loomed, but still. I'm on a horse!
Also -- I usually rambo and die in the first 2 minutes which helps my repair rate.

with the new hotfix i can easly make money with armor less than 25k

Remember that 2H weapons get penalty when fighting mounted. 30% damage loss and speed is reduced.... Unless chazd has been fooling around with those stats too. So basicly 2h becomes worse than 1h when mounted.
-
well you're not alone, I'm playing 2h polearm on horse, not a lancer... :wink: 8-)
so that make us 2 crazy m**** f***** :twisted:
-
My cav is 2h with some polearms mainly for lancing other cavalry or against infantry with longer weapons that are aware of me, but I use my Longsword when I charge into the flanks and backs of enemy when they are unaware and also when I'm on foot, works quite well. Might give Sarranid axe a try too :D.

But, you get the speed bonus dmg from the horse... So that -30% is much less in the end, specially on a loomed courser with 7 riding. Also, from horse back you don't need swing speed, just hold the attack and ride forth, swing it, get away and turn around, rinse and repeat.

You only get a penalty with 2h that can be used as 1h like bastard, morningstar, ecc while equipped with shield as far as I know.

That would make more sense to me as well. I never have noticed a 30% damage reduction.
