Title: Ping and blocking
Post by: polearmsteveISBACKFOOLS on August 30, 2011, 01:31:39 am
hey guys I have been playing this game for about 6 months. on most good servers for me I have 150 ping, I do okay at blocking, I started a server (had 0 ping) real quick to test against the hardest bot and the blocking was incredibly easy to get down, is there a correlation between how hard it is to block and ping

Yes. The ping is the delay and thus makes it harder for you to block as you have less time to react. 150 ping means you only see the attack after 150 milliseconds pass, which is pretty significant on this game. Something less then 90 will be substantially easier.

When it comes to blocking and chamber blocking ping matters a lot.

Guys with ~20 ping have it much easier than us with more than 50 ping, you with 150 ping have a huge disadvantage imo.

With your ping I'd only play with a Shielder character.

I play on NA servers even though i'm from the UK, I admit there is a difference in blocking with 120-150 ping compared to the 50-80 I get on EU servers but you can for sure block well with that ping, you just need to get the timing down.

According to my tests:
<20 ping is easy to block
<50 is ok and you can still feint good, attacks are not delayed
80< is where it gets hard to feint, block and attack (unregistered blocks, slow blocks, automatically delayed attacks, ...)
