Title: Could you look into Autobalance?
Post by: Christo on August 28, 2011, 01:32:09 am
This is getting awkward, every time one team just dies out quickly while the other has like 20 to 30 survivors left.

Is this supposed to be balanced? It's rough, tough, and unforgiving towards anyone who has a spine and does not devolve into a copycat who is stealing big clan's banners.

I mean, really? You guys don't allow team stacking by changing the teams, but there is a work around via copying famous clan banners?

Look into this somehow please, battles are just no fun like this at all, when you see your efforts totally going to waste because you meet impossible odds.

Thank you.

Yeah but thing is, I see no effort in these battles, one side just wipes out the other without any actual effort most of the time.

At least it looks like it, from the numbers.

Maybe, but I like being on the losing side as well. Sure, you're probably not getting a multiplier but meh.

Many time mentioned, but still good thing to renew the knowledge. Since the balance is by banner, it happens that one team gets all the players from one clan, since they wear the same banner. So we end up having all the Great Khans(all cavalry clan) in our or enemy team, or all fallens (who have a lot of archers).

Balanced indeed should be by class. I imagine it something like this; If you have horse in equipment, you are cavalry; If you have (x)bow, you are ranged; If you don't have horse or (x)bow you are infantry.

I don't know is it possible to do, but if it is, I think it would be improvement to current balance.

Why is there allways 1 team that gets all the cav?

Why is there allways 1 team that gets all the cav?

Because it's often GK and a lot of cav are now using GK's banner typically. So even if there is only 1-2 GK on, they still get shoved together.

Anyway, I do think 1 server should always be banner balanced. But there is a server that doesn't have banner balance and I find the exact same issues occur there anyway. So for the server that doesn't have banner balance, class balancing would be good.

Could also play on EU4 and EU5, they have strict balance instead of banner-balance.

I'd love to, but no one plays it, at least when I check.

Is it what you could call banner abuse?

People flock to fallen and GK banners..

Solution:
Nerf Archery and Cav :D

OR:
We keep clan and randomer banner groups separate. And perhaps even include this fact in the balancing formula somehow.

1. Include banner packs in the cRPG updates.
2. You select banner on the website
3. There are 2 pools split 50:50 or so.
4. Clanless people can choose from group A: Clan members must choose their clan Banner.

Result:
Clanless people can still play with friends if they choose the same banner from pool A
Clanmembers are stuck to their clan, which prevents banner abuse.

Perhaps a lot of work though.. and perhaps impossible because of hardcoded elements. (perhaps not impossible btw.. M&M mod enforces banners.)

Even non-banner balance servers have poorly balanced games.

After the first rounds initial balance every other round it just swaps 1 or 2 people ( not including compensation for people leaving) and it normally isn't enough to tip the balance at all.
