What about a commander that would play the game like a RTS, sending on screen positions and orders to his soldiers. That would be very cool and entertaining, specially on strategus.
That could be a global commander or a squad leader, like the flag system we have now. Also with the new game mode you re planning, we could see interresting results for the placements of fortifications, he would place a ghost structure, and the players would need to build it, etc.

I'm envisioning BF2. Would be cool. But is it possible?

Natural Selection.

Commander sits in command chair / spawn and gets a view of above the map and gives orders.

Either that or separate mode within each team, kinda like spectator but not.

There would have to be rewards for going to the set points because otherwise people wouldnt go there.

Also there would need to be a voting option to eject / remove person from command incase someone is abusing
