Title: Hiding in a hay - allowed or not?
Post by: Tai Feng on January 22, 2011, 07:24:02 pm
Simple yes/no.. I believe we all know what it is.

Is he forcing a draw? Ban

Is he just ambushing someone who is coming that way?  It's alright.

Archers do tend to get annoying, But when you figure out their positions so are they an easy kill(If you're archer/crossbowman too that is)
Since they don't move around trying to dodge arrows.

Not to mention that it's usually the same people doing it, and always the same spot. In the end it's just a free kill.

Depends... morality suggests a player in heavy armor and xbow shouldn't hide while others in his team are actually fighting. Hiding when the round ends is already forbidden.

Yes. It is allowed. Even if you're the last one left, if you're standind in a hay pile shooting people, it's still allowed. The only circumstance where it is not allowed on the NA servers is if you're the last one left, AND you're not attempting to kill people.

When your hiding in hay it gives you an unfair advantage. HOWEVER!
WAR IS HELL, WHO GIVES A SHIT IF IT'S UNFAIR!
Yay for the hay.

I hid in the hay once and won the roundXD Just picking off people running past with an xbow, a couple caught on and charged, but I guess they didn't realize I was aiming at them so they didn't dodge/put up shields. So, I fully condone hay-hiding and various other forms of hiding in the effort to shoot enemies in the ass.

you can see the people outside but they cant see you..

Yes, this is the silly bit.

I don't mind that you can hide in the hay. But the part where you can aim and shoot from the hay and are able to see everything (while on the other hand other people can't see you) is silly and stupid, and feels like bugged behavior.

It does feel buggy/cheap, but it is allowed, nonetheless. And I believe that has answered the OP's question.

The issue is, policing every little thing like that is simply too difficult for admins to do. Unless someone is using a glitch that is obvious and easy to see, it likely won't be banned behavior. There are certain walls, and other points on various maps that are buggy, and you can literally hide inside the wall and hop out to ambush someone as they walk past. Poor taste? Perhaps. But not disallowed.

It's becouse the third person camera.

Really.

If you stand close to the end of a wall/building, so can you see out. While others can't see you.
Yeah sure, you can't shoot arrows from there without moving out in the open but;
If you haven't realized on most siege maps or town maps so is it a piece of cake for 2handers to get kills purely by standing next to the corner and wait for someone to come and kill them.
Due to they are prepared and can see the enemy coming, while the attackers don't see them.

I think that torches should put hayballs on fire.

I don't mind people hiding in the hay but archers during the night can be an issue. Problem is that while is night time on server, arrows are almost invisible so it's really hard to guess where is the guy who's shooting at you. Removing night time from c-rpg mod should fix this issue.

Yes, it is allowed, as long as you are not the last person alive. Then it counts as hiding/prolonging round and earns you a kick.

Rules > Opinions. As the OP is only asking for clarification, i consider this thread closeable.
