A man wrapped in black robes and with hooded eyes rode into the tall, dark castle.  In the rain he did not look anything remarkable, to the average eye.  On closer inspection the scabbard of his sword was intricately woven with thin golden thread and the saddle on his horse appeared strange in shape, indeed the very horse itself was not from such a damp and muddy climate.

The man dismounted quickly, handing the reigns to a passing stable boy, who was in fact a squire to one of the local knights. The hooded man barreled through the door to the keep and proceeded directly to the large hall, forcing open the wide doors as the rain dripped from his robes.

In the hall little was happening and so his bold entry came to little effect.  He straightened himself up and removed his hood revealing a most excellent mustache.  At the far end of the hall sat the local lord, a man who was once renown for his good looks and quick wits, around him gathered were many men in robes similar to that of the rider.

"My Lord! My friends. I come bearing great news!" said the rider in his most pompous voice and with that decleration he retrieved a sodden messenger bag from within his robes and withdrew a single parchment.

He pushed his way through the bemused group of robed men and shoved the parchment into his lords hand

His lord studied it for some time before declaring "God Wills It!"


Several months Later

In the months following the joining of the knights templar and the schwert bruder a great movement of warriors from the far reaches of chadzendom begane.  With the holy warriors came elite mercenaries, willing to fight and die for gold, land and glory.  Of these the Varangian Rus, under the leadership of their local prince, Biyarni pledged their allegiance to the pope, and the crusader alliance.

Later Still

The mercenaries from the Rus lands however grew tired of the constrains of Calradia, and the heat of the desert. Ever seeking new riches and hopes for glory their warriors departed the lands and their monarchy faltered.  The lands of the Varangian's was passed over to the care of the Calradian Church under direction of their remaining lords.  They pledged to fight still for Armagan, but were but no longer the peoples of strength they had once been.

Hm, sounds pretty similar to our deal with the seabros. Looks like more and more people are seeing the synergy of joint factions for smaller clans.

We are not currently crusading so i wouldn't worry to much.

In fact, we have rather peaceful and devout intentions at the moment.

Acre were formed on  a basis of lies and treachery, although they have begun to repent their sins, the entrance to heaven is not open to them.

I'd just like to state for the record,...casimir, I warned you and the rest of the council of the treachery of reinhardt and the crusaders of acre. This when it just began. You remember that first battle of mine for ambean? when I had gathered all the resources of the NA Templars which I had helped recruit, and for some reason, at the very last minute, someone within our clan wiped all of our merc applications for the battle and all of my equipment and troops which I had worked so diligently to collect was suddenly gone. This catastrophic event was a linchpin in the downfall of our Templar order in Strategus 1.0. This event destroyed our momentum in the north. A mere week after that rienhardt started his clan and tried recruiting the vast majority of our NA templars. For the longest time I suspected the russians had hacked us, but the clues seem to have fallen into place now.

I'd just like to say...I told ya so.

Haha, ohhh it was such a heartbreaking loss though. The thing about it was that we Templars were on top of the world. We had won our crusade against 22nd (i was not involved at that point) We had just started getting a sizable NA presence, Rienhardt and I had gotten elected as the first representative of NA on the council. I had finally gathered together enough troops strictly from NA members to take a village. It felt glorious! I never could have imagined that one who called himself Templar, an order based on loyalty, honor, and most of all integrity, could stoop so low just because (permit my ego a bit here please) I was outperforming him so handily as a Councillor, and to be honest I was kinda a dick to him. And so to injure his competition, it seems he forsake the Templar code. I lost over 800 troops in ambean, and more than 500k worth of equipment. The second attack which i led was not nearly as well numbered, or equipped. and by that time the Russians had begun their invasion and had time to reinforce what little 22nd forces we were attacking. The north fell, and then Uxhall fell, along with the Templar order. It was a sad day for those of us who placed so much time and effort with the Order.

All is truly water under the bridge though, you are absolutely right casimir. I hope to see the crusader alliance prosper, and I will work diligently to ensure that the Knights Hospitaller and all NA crusaders will do God's and the pope's will to the best of our ability.

I regret to announce that Varangian Rus is to disband, they have relinquished the claims of their fiefs to control of the Calradian Church.  They have relinquished their authority over the crusader alliance but many that remain have pledged to fight on in Armagans name.  No obligation is held over them to partake in battles or to fight, they are free men to do as they wish.

There are no bands of warriors in Calradia we'd rather not put to the sword than you lot.(myself especially, sicne I got my start with you noble warriors.) If i remember correctly we were going to try and address this issue before strat 3.0 began.  But it never happened.  Feel free to contact me if you are serious about getting involved.  Expanding the Calradian church is on of my aims and i'd love to see more clans get involved with Papal guard and to rework the system with the pope etc.

we have 7 members: a few are active 4 are active and the other three are less active but since we are a  paladin clan we wish to join. 3 of our members are playing strategus and we spotted near Wercheg a BIG BAD Fallen army!!! 400 men also we have no fiefs so we are recruiting to take wercheg.

This is a game, you can rewrite history if you want. Its not like Assassins Creed is based on a true story (atleast god I hope not :mrgreen:). I dont see you writing hatemail to Ubisoft for being historically inaccurate.
