There is a formula, but you need to give the weight of each part of your armor.

Wpf is at least 14 x PT (then substratc weight penalty).

WEIGHT OF THE ARMOR, NOT THE ARMOR OF THE ARMOR

This is not the weight, it's the armor value.

Check in your equipment screen the weight of part of your armor.

Not the armor value but the WEIGHT of an armor piece determines wpf reduction.
Post the weight of each armor piece you wear.

If 49 head armor means Morion(2.8), 56 body Gothic Plate(25) and 52 leg Splinted Greaves(2.5) then you'd need around 96 wpf.

If it means Morion(2.8), Mail Gauntlets(0.3), Coat of Plates(19.5) and Cased Greaves(3.5) then it is about 86 wpf.

This thread has the most recent study of weight and proficiency. The following formula gives an approximation for how much proficiency is lost due to armor weight:

armor weight modified proficiency = base proficiency * (1 - 0.01 * effective armor weight)

    where

effective armor weight = 3*head armor weight + body armor weight + leg armor weight + 2*hand armor weight - 7

hmm from my calculation you need 65, if you can try it before going up to 86  :)

13+13 = 26 (PT 2)

1.6+8.4+2+20+7 = 39 (Armor weight+7)

39+26= 65

just try adding points until u don't have to anymore.

I'm also going throwing next gen again. It will be a 18/18 build I think, with wpf split in two between 2h and snowflakes.

I wouldn't recommend anything less than 4-5 pt though, especially with snowflakes. PT also adds to flight speed of the weapons, and that contribute a lot to accuracy. Also, with 2pt u will glance a lot. It will work for stopping running archers however + the occasional headshot.

So, did the message stop at 65 wpf?

it doesn't work that way. Total armor weight has a stupidly long complex formula for finding out wpf reduction.

well that stupid formula have been working for me for the time being...  :P

otherwise give me the damn rocket science formula and i'll use my fucking computer to calculate the result...

I did extensive testing with another clan mate last night with 86 wpf in throwing last night, Seems that the 14 penalty starts tiering higher with higher armor, Not just the EFFECTIVE armor penalty that hurts your wpn prof.
seems that the more armor you wear, the higher the penalty becomes, If he wore light armor he could pick up PT 5 weapons, but with just a slight ajustment in armor he no longer pick them up.

With plate armor seems that the 14xPT whatever forumal Tiers up close to 17-20 x PT.

Just thought u guys should know.

eventually with the PT penalty you can only pick up PT 2-3 weapons

No, that IS the effective armor penalty. Just the effective amror penalty is a "complex formula of fuck you".
The requirement is 13 WPF per power throw level, btw. Armor just lowers your WPF. More weight = more decreasing, apparently non-linearly.
