I cannot even finish a round. I have not changed a thing, both the game and mod are up to date. My screen will freeze for a second and then go black. After that it either crashes or goes back to the game. Any ideas? (I have no problems in other games)

A few things, which I tried all at once, and may have fixed my similar issues: turning settings down, ragdolls and bodies off, switching to Dx7, turning off load textures on demand, playing in windowed mode all the time, altering base graphics card settings.

For a somewhat quick fix you can start Warband using Native and then join a cRPG server(which will load cRPG). This should fix your crashing problem.
You could also try doing a full install of both Warband and cRPG to see if that helps, but it has a lower rate of success from what I have seen.

I have a 260gtx and I was getting mass freezes and especially when I brought up steam overlay and a bunch of pixel distortion, but once I updated my drivers it fixed. Have you updated your drivers to the latest?

Im sorry to say this, if you get freezes, black screens and then game crashes or just the game running after this.. sounds like a hardware failure. What is happening is the video driver crashing due to some hardware fault. I bet you use windows vista or win 7, coz this kind of "black screens" equals to "blue screens of death "in xp. Could be also a bad driver but i really doubt it. Try removing the graphic card, clean the slot and slide it again... if you are lucky you will be ok. My gf actually does that and its coz i have some blocks of video memory damaged. I just open some crap to make sure the memory damaged gets used, then launch the game and minimize the chances of driver crash.. i will be like this until the gf explodes...btw, next time your run the game, look for small dots here and there, popping and then vanishing, textures flickering, stutters for no reason.. all that stuff may be related to a faulty hardware. You actually also want to watch the temps of your gf, maybe you are crashing just due overheating, if you dont fix it it may lead to real hardware damage. Salute.

Most likely this ^^ or your running a overclock the isnt stable!! i would update all your drivers if that does not help do a os reinstall and if your still getting errors take a hammer to your pc!!

Cleaning the gunk out of my computer's guts and setting up a huge fan blowing into the side fixed this problem for me. Very strange how this game is the only one to ever make my computer overheat, even on low settings, when other games work fine with much better graphics and higher settings.

vysnc + max fps 60, set them in your video options

& deinstall all mods like new textures, banners and other custom stuff
(clean crpg works like a charm)
